Play Historic Preservation Scavenger Hunt

May 23, 2013
The third grave for you to find this week is another example of the form following the family name. They are buried farther west and slightly north of No. 2. Smaller markers are arranged like stair steps in front of a much larger monument. What family is represented by the geometry here?

Welcome to the 2013 Historical Preservation Scavenger Hunt. The City of Washington’s Historic Preservation Commission hopes you will help the commissioners celebrate for the next four weeks. All of the answers to the clues can be found in the two local cemeteries. Please take care as you wander in search of markers and mausoleums.

More detailed guidelines and an entry blank may be found in the Tuesday, May 28, Journal. Photos and clues are published Monday through Thursday for four weeks. Answers will be published the following week.
