Play Historic Preservation Scavenger Hunt

May 31, 2013
Due west of the Millers and facing west is the Brinton family plot. Many colorful tales are told about the Brintons — mostly true! An early purveyor of moving pictures and an aerodynamic inventor, Frank may have invented the first “flying machine.” His wife, Indiana, had a great flair for fashion and healthy living styles. There were world travelers who were rumored to have brought back an Egyptian mummy. The large monument is beautifully etched and faces the smaller markers in front. What instrument is mentioned on the monument?

Welcome to the 2013 Historical Preservation Scavenger Hunt. The City of Washington’s Historic Preservation Commission hopes you will help the commissioners celebrate for the next four weeks. All of the answers to the clues can be found in the two local cemeteries. Please take care as you wander in search of markers and mausoleums.

More detailed guidelines and an entry blank may be found in the Monday, May 20, Journal. Photos and clues are published Monday through Thursday for four weeks. Answers will be published the following week.
