William Joseph Hiller, 40, of Washington, was arrested Thursday morning in the 800 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington for violation of a no-contact order.
Ricky Gene Smith, 58, of Washington, was arrested Thursday in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington for disorderly conduct and simple assault.
Artesha Celease Murphy, 22, of Washington, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of East Second Street in Washington for assault with a dangerous weapon.
A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Thursday morning at Highway 1 and 230th Street in Washington. The incident was documented.
Motor vehicle thefts
A passenger van was reported missing Thursday morning in the 100 block of First Street in Kalona. Officers responded.
An office in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington was reported broken into Thursday morning. Officers responded. The caller didn’t believe anything was taken. The incident was documented.
All other thefts
A caller in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported Thursday morning losing his wallet. Officers were advised.
A caller in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman reported Thursday morning that one of their distributors was stocking a cooler and placed an iPod on the shelf. The iPod is now missing. Video shows a couple of juvenile suspects. Officers responded.
The City of Riverside reported Thursday afternoon shutting off the water to a property in the 500 block of West Third Street in Riverside. When the city checked again, the water had been turned back on. Officers spoke with the caller. The city will try to work out the situation with the landlord.
Approximately 10 bags of garbage were reported dumped in the 1900 block of Larch Avenue in Washington Thursday afternoon. Officers responded and made contact with the owner, who was given until Friday to pick up the trash.
A caller in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported Thursday night her nephews were trying to break in. Officers responded. The parties were separated. The caller did not wish to pursue charges.
Horses in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth were reportedly not being cared for Thursday morning. Officers responded. The horses had access to grass and were eating off a hay mound.
A welfare check was requested Thursday morning on a vehicle on Highway 218 and milepost 77 in Riverside. Officers spoke with the registered owner. No problem.
A child was reported walking on top of mailboxes in the 1300 block of Tulip Avenue in Riverside Thursday morning. Officers spoke with the child’s father.
A suspicious subject was reported Thursday afternoon in the bank in the 400 block of B Avenue in Kalona. The subject had used the phone and the restroom. Officers responded and advised the subject of the bank’s concerns.
A caller in the 800 block of 11th Street in Kalona reported Thursday afternoon that his 3-year-old son was in the back yard and when the father went to the front of the house and came back, the son was missing. Officers, Kalona QRS, and Kalona Fire Department responded. The child was located.
