Arrests

Christina Marie Null, 38, of Washington, was arrested Friday morning in the 300 block of East Third Street in Washington for violation of a no-contact order.

Rosalene Marie Lowe, 56, of Washington, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington for driving under suspension.

Justin Alan Evans, 33, of Washington, was arrested Friday night in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington on an Iowa State patrol warrant for failure to appear for an initial appearance on a charge of driving while revoked.

Cortney Heather Haynes, 21, of Fairfield, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a state patrol warrant for driving under suspension.

Peter James Flynn, 28, of Riverside, was arrested Sunday evening at Vine Avenue and Highway 22 in Riverside for OWI, improper registration, no plate lamp, and open container by the driver.

 

Traffic accidents

A single-vehicle accident was reported Friday morning in the 600 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington. Officers responded. A vehicle ran onto an open manhole cover. Over $1,500 damage was reported.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday morning in the 1000 block of South Third Avenue in Washington. Officers, Washington County Rescue and Washington County Ambulance responded. John Albert Winga Jr. of Washington was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

A caller in the 500 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon that a vehicle was struck while parked in the 500 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Saturday afternoon at Highway 22 in and Vine Avenue in Riverside. Washington County Ambulance, Riverside Fire and QRS and the Iowa State patrol responded. One subject was transported to M

ercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A rollover accident was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1800 block of Highway 78 in Brighton.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Saturday afternoon in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington. Richard Williams of Keota was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Saturday night in the 2900 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers were advised. The incident was documented.

 

Disabled vehicles

A disabled vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of 210th Street in Keota Friday morning and it had been there for three days. Officers spoke with the owner.

 

Traffic stop serious

A traffic stop was reported Saturday morning at 170th Street and Nutmeg Avenue in Washington. A consent search was conducted. Charges are pending.

 

Traffic other

A vehicle was reported Sunday morning in the 600 block of East Main Street in Washington with a loud exhaust. Officers attempted to locate.

An officer advised Monday morning being out with a suspiciously parked vehicle at Vine Avenue and Highway 22 in Riverside.

 

Fire calls

An out-of-control field fire was reported Friday afternoon in the 1700 block of Orange Avenue in Riverside. Kalona Fire Department responded.

A grass fire was reported out of control Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of Highway 92 in Keota.

A caller in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon that the lobby area smelled like natural gas. Washington Fire Department and Alliant Energy responded.

A hay fire was reported out of control Friday afternoon in the 1500 block of 315th Street in Brighton. Brighton Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

An out-of-control fire was reported Friday afternoon in the 2900 block of 135th Street in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

A tree was reported on fire Friday night in the 1400 block of 540th Street SW in Kalona. Kalona Fire Department responded.

A fire alarm was reported Friday night in the 400 block of B Avenue in Kalona. It was a false alarm.

Brighton Fire Department was requested Saturday morning in the 1300 block of Tamerac Avenue in Pleasant Plain for a chimney fire.

An out-of-control grass fire was reported Saturday morning in the 200 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Ainsworth Fire Department responded.

A caller in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona reported Saturday morning he was concerned his controlled burn was getting out of control. Kalona Fire Department responded.

A skid loader was reported on fire Saturday morning in the 5600 block of Observatory Avenue SW in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department responded.

An out-of-control ditch fire was reported Saturday afternoon at 287th and Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. Crawfordsville Fire Department and officers responded.

A house fire was reported Saturday night in the 1500 block of Riverside Road in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department responded. No fire was found.

Brighton Fire Department was requested Sunday morning in the 2900 block of 136th Street in Brighton for a grass fire.

 

Fraud

A fraud phone call was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1900 block of larch Avenue in Washington. Personal information was given. Officers spoke with the caller and advised him to cancel his debit card.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon money had been stolen from her purse overnight. The purse was inside a locked residence. No sign of forced entry. Unfounded.

A subject reportedly forgot to pay for $20 ion gas Friday night in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A caller in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton reported Friday evening that she kept seeing a BB gun come out of a window and heard BBs hitting objects. Officers spoke with the subjects.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington requested Friday morning to speak with an officer regarding harassing phone calls.

A caller in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported Friday evening being harassed on Facebook. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman reported Saturday that a subject was harassing her family. Officers spoke with all parties.

A caller in the 400 block of West Main Street in Washington requested Sunday morning to speak with an officer regarding a female subject who is harassing her. It was a civil issue.

A caller in the 100 block of East Madison Street in Brighton reported Sunday afternoon being harassed. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Pornography

A caller in the 700 block of South C Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon a juvenile was sending pictures to an adult male. The incident is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported Friday evening a 17-year-old subject was out of control. Officers responded. The subject had calmed down.

Juveniles in the 600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington running around in the street and it appeared as if they were shooting BB guns at each other. Officers were unable to located.

 

Weapons violation

Subjects were reported shooting guns in the 2700 block of Red Oak Avenue in Washington Saturday afternoon. Officers responded. The subjects shoot at targets away from anything and use a backdrop.

 

Animal complaints

A dead horse was reported in a yard in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester Friday morning and the caller said it had been there for eight days. Officers spoke with the horse owner and property owner.

Subjects in the 800 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported Sunday afternoon that neighbors let their children and dog run loose. Officers spoke with the subjects.

A horse was reported Sunday afternoon at 230th and Spruce Avenue in Ainsworth that had been tied up for six hours with no access to food or water. Officers responded. There was food and water. The incident was documented.

An injured deer was reported Sunday evening in the 1500 block of Vine Avenue in Riverside. Officers responded.

A dog bite was reported Sunday night in the 200 block of North Washington Street in Riverside. A 12-year-old subject was taken to the hospital.

A vehicle was reported operating backwards in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester and dragging a deceased animal. Officers responded. The streets were free of liter and the animal was being disposed of.

 

Barking dog

A barking dog was reported Sunday afternoon in the 1000 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

 

All other offenses

A caller in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported Saturday morning issues with a friend taking her belongings. Officers responded. The problem was resolved.

A caller in the 2800 block of Vine Avenue in Crawfordsville reported Saturday evening that a neighbor had been doing burning on her property. Officers spoke with the caller.

A group of juveniles was reported having a bonfire one the caller’s property in the 600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington Sunday night. Officers responded.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Saturday afternoon the father of her child was trying to take her child. The child left with the mother.

A caller reported Sunday afternoon that his ex, with whom he had a no-contact order, had entered a business in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington well after he was already there. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to have no contact.

A caller in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported Sunday night that her boyfriend was out of control and yelling at her. Officers responded. The parties were separated.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 200 block of North Mechanic Street in Brighton reported Friday evening a neighbor had come to her house twice to ask if they had any drugs. Officers spoke with the subject. There were conflicting stories. They were told to stay away from each other.

A suspicious item was reported Sunday afternoon at West Van Buren and South Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller in the 800 block of South D Avenue in Washington reported Saturday morning that her 15-year-old daughter was missing. Officers responded.

 

Civil dispute

An officer was requested Saturday afternoon in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington. A subject was reported there causing problems. The subject was later reported harassing the caller via text messaging.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Friday evening on a subject in the 300 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded. The subject was fine.

A welfare check was requested Sunday morning on a subject in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. The subject was fine.
