Arrests

David Allan Knerr, 55, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday morning on a Cedar County warrant for contempt of court on failure to appear for a hearing on issuance of mittimus.

Christopher Nathaneil Lavarn Holt, 19, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington for probation violation on prohibited acts.

 

Traffic accidents

A tractor-trailer reportedly made a turn and hit a parked vehicle Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of East First Street in Riverside. The vehicle left heading northbound on Highway 218. Officers contacted the trucking company and the driver. Information was exchanged. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

A school bus violation was reported Tuesday morning in the 2200 block of Highway 22 in Kalona. Charges are pending.

A caller reported Tuesday afternoon that three juveniles were in the roadway in the 200 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington and she nearly struck one. Officers responded and spoke with the father of the subjects.

A vehicle was reported struck Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington. Under $1,500 damage was reported. The incident was documented.

A subject was reported driving erratically Tuesday night in the parking lot in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Officers responded and advised the subject of the complaint.

 

Fire calls

A field fire was reported out of control Tuesday afternoon at Highway 22 and Red oak Avenue in Riverside.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 3300 block of Redwood Avenue in Mt. Pleasant reported Tuesday morning that near the end of February someone had broken into the back of her residence and took numerous items. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 1500 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday morning that a subject had called her mother and stated he had her purse. Officers responded. The purse was returned.

A caller in the 300 block of West Fifth Street in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon that there were charges on her credit card that she did not make. A report will be filed.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $72.27 was reported Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. The caller later reported it had been taken care of.

 

Intimidation/harassment

Verbal sexual harassment was reported Tuesday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington between two students. Officers spoke with all parties involved. A subject was given a three day out of school suspension.

 

Animal complaints

A caller in the 800 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon a dog was in her back yard. The dog lived on the corner of the block. This was an ongoing problem. Officers spoke with both parties. A verbal warning was given.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 200 block of West Tyler Street in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon having some problems with movers at her residence. They had been paid and were saying they needed more money. Officers spoke with the subjects. The problem was resolved.

A caller in the 900 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon a vehicle with two subjects inside was parked in front of his residence for 30 minutes. Officers responded. No one was around the vehicle on arrival. The neighbor advised the car usually parks there. No problem.

A caller in the 200 block of North Van Buren Street in Brighton reported Tuesday evening witnessing a subject remove the plates off a passenger car and leave in a truck. The incident was documented.

 

Hang-up 911 calls

Dispatch reported receiving two hang-up 911 calls Tuesday evening from a residence in the 2400 block of 190th Street in Washington and could hear a verbal argument. Officers responded. The parties were separated.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported Tuesday evening her landlord shut off her water. Officers spoke with the caller.
