Arrests

Larry Wayne Crockett Jr., 48, of Kalona, was arrested Friday evening in the 2300 block of 133rd Street in Kalona on a Clinton County warrant for failure to appear for a contempt hearing regarding child support.

Blayze Lee Harding, 21, of Oxford, was arrested Friday night in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for driving under bar and no insurance.

Mariah Shanique Brown, 18, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington for interference with official acts, public intoxication and possession of alcohol under the legal age.

Daryl Devonte Cole, 18, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning in the 200 block of West Second Street in Washington on an Iowa County warrant for first-degree robbery.

Allen Maurice Thompson, 69, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 2500 block of Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth for disorderly conduct. Arnold Everett Thompson, 69, of Cedar Rapids was arrested at the same time and location for disorderly conduct.

Thomas John Lackender, 28, of Washington, was arrested Saturday night at Sitler Drive and South Iowa Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension.

Shelby Jean Husar, 70, of Iowa City, was arrested Sunday morning in the 4500 block of Melrose Avenue in Iowa City on a Washington County warrant for absence from custody.

Stephanie Ann Blanchett, 35, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Monday morning in the 500 block of First Street SW in Cedar Rapids on Washington County warrants for failure to appear for mittimus on burglary and failure to appear for mittimus on possession of methamphetamine.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller reportedly hit a pole Saturday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Saturday morning in the 600 block of E Avenue in Kalona. A caller advised that there were injuries and one person was trapped. Officers, Kalona QRS, Kalona Fire Department, Kalona Rescue and Washington County Ambulance responded. Air Care was en route but disregarded. A City of Kalona pole and a stop sign were damaged. Washington County Ambulance transported two subjects to Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. One subject was transported by private vehicle. Over $1,500 damage was reported. Tiffany Bontrager of Kalona was cited for turning from an improper lane.

A vehicle reportedly scraped the side of a postal truck Saturday morning in the 700 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington and continued north. The incident was documented.

A vehicle reportedly backed into another vehicle in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman. Information was exchanged. The incident was documented.

A semi reportedly rolled over Sunday afternoon at Highway 218 and 192nd Street in Ainsworth. The driver was trapped inside. Officers, Ainsworth Fire, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Ambulance and Washington County Rescue responded. One subject was transported to the Washington County Hospital. The vehicle was towed.

 

Traffic stop serious

A vehicle stop was reported Sunday morning at Highway 92 and Third Street in Ainsworth. Charges are pending for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. A verbal warning was given for speeding.

 

Traffic other

A vehicle was reported sitting in the street in the 300 block of C Avenue in Kalona Friday afternoon and it had been there for two months. Officers chalked the tires. The owner later advised he would move the vehicle.

A caller reported Friday afternoon that a vehicle passed her on the shoulder of the roadway on Highway 218 in Riverside.

A van was reported driving suspiciously Friday evening on Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Officers located the vehicle and everything appeared fine.

Subjects were reported riding a 4-wheeler up and down the road and in the alley Friday evening in the 700 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller reported Saturday morning an SUV was in the travel portion of the roadway in the 2700 block of Spruce Avenue in Crawfordsville. Officers responded. The subject driving the vehicle got into a verbal altercation and lost the keys. The keys were recovered. The parties were separated.

A vehicle was reported parked across a sidewalk in the 500 block of South C Avenue in Washington Saturday afternoon. Officers spoke with the owners.

A caller on Highway 218 in Ainsworth reported Sunday morning that he had run out of gas and had no funds to purchase any more. Officers responded and gave the subject a ride to Olds.

A vehicle was reported illegally parked Sunday night in the 400 block of D Avenue in Kalona. A written warning was issued.

 

Fire calls

A field fire was reported Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of Angle road SW in Kalona. Wellman Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

Suspicious activity was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

All other thefts

A bike was reported stolen Friday night in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. The bike was located.

 

Trespass

A caller in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in Ainsworth reported Friday afternoon that a neighbor had attached a fence to her fence on her property. She reported having ongoing problems with the neighbor. Officers spoke with the neighbors.

 

Animal complaints

A dog was reported inside a vehicle in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington Friday morning. Officers responded and spoke with the owner. There was food, water and ventilation.

A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of North Taylor Street in Brighton Saturday morning. Officers responded. Debra Jean Hagans of Brighton was cited for allowing a dog to run at large.

A barking dog was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

A caller in the 900 block of East Third Street in Washington reported Sunday afternoon a dog was in his backyard. Officers responded.

A barking dog was reported Sunday morning in the 400 block of South C Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and spoke with the owner.

 

All other offenses

A caller in the 300 block of 10th Avenue in Wellman requested Friday afternoon to speak with an officer regarding a possible issue between a couple of girls who are friends with his daughter. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A subject was reported burning garbage in the back of his residence Friday afternoon in the 200 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the subject.

 

Family offense non violent

A possible violation of a no-contact order was reported Saturday evening in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 2600 block of Kiwi Avenue in Washington requested Friday afternoon a deputy check his residence after getting a report from a friend that his garage door was partially up and there was a strange vehicle parked in the areal. Officers checked the residence and secured the door.

A subject was reported walking down the center of the roadway Friday night in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the subject. No problem.

A caller reported Saturday night that someone was trying to break into his residence in the 500 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Weather related

A funnel cloud was reported Sunday afternoon at Highways 1 and 92 in Washington. Washington Fire Department was paged out for spotters. Officers were unable to locate. The National Weather Service was advised.
