Arrests

Austin John Hansen-McClenathan, 18, of Marengo, was arrested Friday morning in the 1000 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington on an Iowa County warrant for first-degree robbery.

David Alleyin Hudson, 18, of Brighton, was arrested Friday evening in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for failure to comply with sex offender registry.

Miguel Angel Velasco Rodriguez, 38, of Washington, was arrested Friday night in the 700 block of South B Avenue in Washington for open container, no insurance, failure to maintain control and driving under suspension.

Jesus Manuel Martinez, 26, of Davenport, was arrested Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Rock Island County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Jody Allan Morgan, 39, of Fairfax, was arrested Saturday morning in the 100 block of Williams Boulevard in Fairfax on two Washington County warrants for violation of a no-contact order.

Misty Lynn Bruner, 33, of Hills, was arrested Saturday afternoon at South E Avenue and West Madison Street in Washington for driving under revocation.

Clinton Gus Leedom, 49, of Bloomfield, was arrested Saturday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for domestic abuse.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller at East Second Street and North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon a subject had backed over him in the crosswalk. Officers spoke with the caller.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona. The incident was documented.

A vehicle reportedly struck two parked cars in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington Sunday night and drove away. The incident is under investigation. The vehicle was located and towed.

 

Traffic other

Glass was reported falling off the front of a trailer at 250th Street and Highway 92 in Washington. Officers responded. Unfounded.

A vehicle was reported parked in the 300 block of North B Avenue in Washington Saturday afternoon and it had been there for several days. Officers chalked the tires.

Subjects were reported riding dirt bikes at East Second Street and North Greene Street in Riverside. Officers were unable to locate.

Three subjects were reported riding a motorcycle on the roadway and sidewalk in the 900 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects were gone on arrival.

A subject was reported Sunday evening in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton driving a two-door passenger car erratically and at a high rate of speed. The incident was documented.

 

Fire calls

A gas smell was reported Friday afternoon in the cafeteria and kitchen area of the middle school in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. Alliant, Washington Fire Department and Washington Police Department all responded.

A cornfield was reported on fire Saturday afternoon in the 1500 block of Angle Road SW in Kalona. Kalona Fire responded.

Hills Fire reportedly requested mutual aid Saturday afternoon in the 3000 block of 500th Street SW for a vegetation fire. Kalona Fire was later disregarded.

A caller in the 1700 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman reported Saturday evening that his controlled burn caught a highline pole on fire. Wellman Fire, officers and Alliant responded. Several residences advised they were without power.

A grass fire was reported Saturday evening at TT Avenue and Washington/Iowa Road in Wellman. Wellman Fire responded.

A subject reportedly had several burn piles in the 300 block of Center Street in West Chester Sunday morning. Officers spoke with the subject. The piles were small and there shouldn’t be a problem.

A fire was reported Sunday afternoon at Elm Avenue and 310th Street in Brighton. Brighton Fire responded. It was a controlled burn.

A controlled burn in the 1100 block of 250th Street in Keota reportedly jumped a fence Sunday afternoon and was out of control. Keota Fire Department responded.

A field fire was reported Sunday afternoon in the 2800 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Brighton Fire Department responded.

A grass fire was reported out of control Sunday afternoon in the 1900 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Washington Fire Department and Kalona Fire Department responded.

A grass fire was reported out of control Sunday afternoon in the 3100 block of 150th Street in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department responded.

 

Assault

A caller in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton reported Sunday afternoon that a subject had struck her daughter in the stomach and they had been fighting. Officers spoke with all parties. Unfounded.

 

Drug/narcotics violations

A suspicious item was reported Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

Officers reported a vehicle with no plates at Highway 1 and West Main Street in Washington Sunday evening. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia are pending.

 

Motor vehicle theft

A vehicle was reported stolen from a garage in the 500 block of East Madison Street in Brighton.

A stolen vehicle was reported located Sunday afternoon at Highway 151 in Monticello. Arrangements were made to pick up the vehicle.

 

Stolen property

Two bikes were reported stolen Saturday afternoon from a residence in the 700 block of East Third Street in Washington. Officers were advised.

 

All other thefts

An iPad was reported stolen Friday afternoon in the 2500 block of Louisa/Washington Road in Ainsworth. Officers spoke with the caller.

Two subjects were reported in a store in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington with a phone that comes up as stolen. Officers responded. There was an error in the records.

 

Vandalism

Two trucks were reported tearing up a dirt road in the 2300 block of Palm Avenue in Washington Friday evening. Officers responded. The subjects were gone on arrival.

A caller in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Brighton reported Saturday morning that someone scratched her vehicle Friday night. A second vehicle was located with damage. A report will be filed.

A garage door in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington was reportedly spray-painted Sunday night. Officers responded. The incident was documented. The caller also advised a possible violation of a no-contact order. Possible charges pending.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 1200 block of Maple Avenue in Kalona reported Friday afternoon that her 12-year-old daughter was being harassed and had death threats made toward her. The subject also had shown up at the residence when the mother was not home. Officers attempted to contact the family of the subject. Officers contacted a juvenile probation officer.

Three subjects were reported ganging up on another subject in the 300 block of Fifth Street in Kalona Friday afternoon. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller in the 600 block of West Adams Street in Washington reported Sunday afternoon a subject was sending her harassing text messages. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported Sunday morning his mom’s boyfriend was drinking and trying to assault him. The caller left the residence.

 

Liquor law violations

Libby Pearl Hinrichs, 14, of Washington, was cited Friday afternoon in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

 

Animal complaints

A dog was reported Sunday afternoon in the 900 block of East Third Street in Washington messing with another dog. Officers responded.

A caller in the 100 block of North Taylor Street in Brighton reported Sunday afternoon that the neighbor’s dogs continued to come onto her property. Officers responded. A written warning was given.

A caller in the 600 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Sunday afternoon the neighbor’s dog had chased them into their residence. The dogcatcher responded and picked up the dog.

A dog was reported in a yard in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in Ainsworth Sunday evening. This is an ongoing problem. Officers responded. A written warning was given.

 

DP&Q

Juveniles were reported Sunday morning at East Washington Street and North Jefferson Street in Brighton yelling. Officers were unable to locate.

Loud music was reported Sunday afternoon from a residence in the 10 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects had turned the music down prior to officers’ arrival.

 

Barking dog

A barking dog was reported Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

An unknown caller requested an officer Friday evening in the 200 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Verbal argument. The parties were separated.

 

Runaway/missing person

A subject reportedly walked away from a residence in the 1300 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington Saturday afternoon. The subject later returned.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 1700 block of Highway 78 in Brighton reported Saturday morning he believed a subject had loosened the lug nuts on a tire on his truck. Officers spoke with the caller. Unfounded.

 

Welfare check

A van was reported Sunday morning in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington with a small child sleeping in the front seat. Officers checked on the child. An older child was reported in the van as well. The parents were in a nearby business. No problem.

A welfare check was requested Sunday afternoon on a subject on Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was fine.
