Arrests

Bryan Jacob Hootman, 19, of Solon, was arrested Wednesday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for possession of a controlled substance marijuana.

Jeremy James Olson, 36, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of East 14th Street in Washington on a Louisa County warrant for fifth-degree theft. Erin Nicole Winchel, 34, of Washington, was arrested at the same time and location on a Louisa County warrant for fifth-degree theft. She is also wanted out of New Hampton for contempt of court on an original charge of fifth-degree theft.

 

Traffic other

A wrecked vehicle was reported parked in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Washington Wednesday evening. It had been there a couple of days. The vehicle belongs to a subject that lives in the apartments and it was parked on private property. Officers notified him to get it moved.

 

Fire calls

Smoke was reported coming from the side of a building in the 200 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington Wednesday evening. Officers were unable to locate.

 

All other thefts

A cell phone was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A subject was reportedly harassing juveniles Wednesday evening in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. The subject’s son was causing trouble. Officers spoke with everyone involved. They were advised to stay away from each other.

 

Animal complaints

A caller reported Monday afternoon that a puppy had been tied outside in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington for a few weeks. Officers responded and spoke with neighbors who are watching the dog while the owners are out of town. They were advised of the city ordinance.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Wednesday morning that someone threw dirt and rocks in her air conditioning unit. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 900 block of First Street in Kalona reported Wednesday evening that in the last couple of weeks a subject kept approaching her and asking for drugs. He had also been questioning people at the pool and a convenience store. Officers spoke with the subject, who advised he was trying to buy a lawnmower or snowblower. He was advised not to return to the property and leave people alone.

Someone was reported in the alley in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington Wednesday night with a ladder. Officers spoke with the subject, who is painting a mural on a building. She advised she would leave shortly.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported Wednesday evening having a dispute with another subject not giving a spare key to a van owner. Officers responded. The key was returned to the owner.
