Arrests

Timothy Daniel Fluharty, 36, of Brighton, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 100 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton on a Jefferson County warrant for drug court violation on delivery of meth.

Breanna Morgan Silva, 29, of Muscatine, was arrested Friday evening in the 500 block of Adams Street in Muscatine for probation violation on OWI.

Jesse James Carter, 43, of Washington, was arrested Friday night in the 2200 block of 250th Street in Washington for driving under suspension x7 and OWI.

Kara Ann Beenblossom, 28, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning at 210th Street and Ginkgo Avenue in West Chester for OWI.

Joshua Joseph Morgan, 19, of North English, was arrested Sunday morning in the 1100 block of 120th Street in Wellman for OWI and failure to maintain control.

William Lyle Morgan, 25, of Washington, was arrested Sunday afternoon in the 800 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington for probation violation on public intoxication.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Saturday morning at South 12th Avenue and East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. Over $1,500 damage was reported. Kelly Allard of Washington was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn.

A caller reported Saturday morning heading to pull a car from a ditch in the 3100 block of Coppock Road in Washington. Officers responded for traffic control. The incident was documented.

Deputy assistance was requested Saturday afternoon at Highway 22 and 132nd Street in Kinross for an accident. Officers responded.

A vehicle reportedly struck a light pole Sunday morning at South Second Avenue and East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. Blake William Vanauken, 20, of Columbus Junction was cited for possession of alcohol under legal age. Bernardo Sanchez-Ortiz, 18, of Washington, was cited for OWI, possession of alcohol under legal age and driving under suspension.

A backing accident was reported Sunday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Information was exchanged.

A caller reported Sunday night being rear-ended in the 2100 block of Highway 22 in Kalona. Officers responded. Christian Crosby, 18, of Riverside, was cited for following too closely.

 

Traffic stop serious

Erin Nicole Winchel, 33, of Washington, was arrested Friday afternoon at East 13th Street and North Fourth Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension.

Lori Anne Rich, 39, of Washington, was cited Friday afternoon at 200th Street and Highway 1 in Washington for driving under suspension.

 

Traffic other

A dump truck reportedly spilled gravel Friday afternoon in the 3300 block of Coppock Road in Wayland. The incident was documented.

 

Fire calls

A power line was reported on fire Friday evening in the 1300 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department responded.

A propane gas line was reported on fire Saturday morning in the 2200 block of 275th Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded.

A fire alarm was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. Wellman Fire Department responded.

A gas smell was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1600 block of Fir Avenue in Wellman. Wellman Fire Department responded.

A fire alarm was reported going off Sunday morning in the 1800 block of 110th Street in Kalona. Officers and Kalona Fire Department responded.

 

Sexual assault

A possible case of sexual assault was reported Sunday evening in Kalona. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Assault

A caller in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported Friday morning a subject assaulted her husband the previous evening. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported Sunday evening another resident assaulted the caller. The nursing home will handle the incident internally.

 

Burglary

Burglary and theft was reported Sunday afternoon from a shop in the 200 block of West Main Street in Brighton. A report will be filed.

 

Shoplifting

Earl William Martin, 65, of Wellman, was cited Friday evening in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman for fifth-degree theft.

 

All other thefts

A gas drive-off in the amount of $25.59 was reported Friday morning in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington.

A caller in the 500 block of North D Avenue in Washington reported Friday morning that someone took money out of his child’s bank account. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Friday evening that a tenant was moving out and had taken the air conditioner. Officers left a message for the subject. The incident was documented.

Someone reportedly stole a bike from a residence in the 900 block of South Third Avenue in Washington Saturday afternoon. The incident was documented.

A purse was reported stolen Sunday morning in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The purse was later located, but a cellphone and driver’s license were missing.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $20 was reported Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington. The subject returned and paid.

Two battery chargers were reported stolen Sunday evening in the 2700 block of Havre Lane in Washington. Officers responded. The items might have been accidentally removed during a civil stand-by. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A garage door was reported vandalized Saturday night in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A subject was reported being a nuisance Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of C Avenue in Kalona. Officers were advised.

A caller in the 900 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reported Sunday evening that her landlord had been harassing her over a situation with the residence. Officers spoke with the landlord.

 

Disorderly conduct

A possible dispute was reported Saturday evening in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington. The parties were separated.

 

Public intox

A subject was reported staggering around a neighborhood in the 800 block of First Place in Kalona Friday evening. Officers were unable to locate.

A subject was reported in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside Saturday night and was very intoxicated. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Animal complaints

A dog reportedly attacked a subject Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The subject was bleeding from her head and the dog was contained. Officers and Washington County Ambulance responded. The subject was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Officers advised the subject wasn’t attacked but had been playing with the dog and gotten bit. The dog was up to date on its shots.

A subject was reported in the emergency room Sunday morning after a dog bit him the previous night in the 1600 block of Highway 92 in West Chester. Officers responded. A dog bite form was filled out. The dog was quarantined.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported Saturday morning in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington. Officers responded. The music was turned down on arrival. The incident was documented.

Subjects were reported being loud Saturday morning in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A loud explosive was reportedly shot off Sunday night in the 1000 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate anything.

 

All other offenses

An officer was requested Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington for a belligerent student. Officers responded. The student went home with her father.

A caller in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon wanting her dog back from a subject. Officers responded. The issue was resolved.

A bike was reported found Saturday morning in the 600 block of West Third Street in Washington. It was taken to the bike shed.

A caller in the 2700 block of Havre Lane in Washington reported Saturday night someone might be in her house through a garage window. Officers responded. Unfounded.

A caller in the 1400 block of Fir Avenue in Wellman reported Sunday afternoon her roommate would not allow her to leave the apartment. The subject had no ties to the residence. The subject left.

 

Family offense non violent

A deputy was requested Saturday afternoon in the 900 block of West Second Street in Kalona regarding a family issue. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Suspicious activities

A suspicious vehicle was reported Friday afternoon in the 2500 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Officers spoke with the subjects, who were under the bridge fishing for bait. They moved the vehicle.

A caller in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon that a subject kept calling her from an unknown number and talking inappropriately. Officers spoke with the subject. He was in Washington, D.C. and advised to stop making inappropriate calls.

A subject was reported dressed all in black and was skateboard northbound at E Avenue and Highway 1 in Kalona Friday evening. Officers responded. No problem.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 300 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon taking a vehicle for a test drive at noon and not returning. Officers spoke with the caller. It was a civil matter. Officers later located the vehicle and the driver was arrested for driving under suspension.
