Arrests

Miguel Angle Garcia-Bello, 24, of Washington, was arrested Friday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth for driving while revoked, no insurance and improper use of registration.

Lucas Genaro Velasquez-Bautista, 26, of Washington, was arrested Friday night in the 600 block of South B Avenue in Washington for no insurance, no driver’s license, operating while intoxicated and failure to maintain control.

Justin Alan Evans, 32, of Washington, was arrested Friday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on an Iowa State patrol warrant for driving while revoked.

Rollin J. Bontrager, 20, of Wellman, was arrested Saturday morning in the 500 block of South Third Avenue in Washington for possession of a controlled substance – marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wanda Jeannette Andree, 50, of Waterloo, was arrested Saturday night in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Aaron Michael Jaspering, 29, of Washington, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 1300 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman for possession of a controlled substance.

Christopher Robert Ewalt, 22, of Wellman, was arrested Saturday evening in the 600 block of Third Street in Wellman for possession of a controlled substance.

Zachary Paul Chalupa, 19, of Riverside, was arrested Saturday night at Red Oak and Highway 22 in Riverside for driving while intoxicated.

Michael James Provins, 30, of Lake Orion, Michigan, was arrested Sunday afternoon in the 1500 block of Highway 218 in Riverside for OWI.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller reported striking a parked vehicle Friday morning in the 100 block of C Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. Information was exchanged.

An accident was reported Friday afternoon at Highway 1 and Johnson/Washington Road in Kalona. Officers responded. Philipp Randolph DeGood of Riverside was cited for no proof of insurance accident related and failure to stop at a sure and clear distance.

An accident was reported Friday afternoon in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. Joshua Murphy of Washington was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway. Information was exchanged.

An accident was reported Saturday morning in the 1400 block of Riverside Road in Riverside. Officers, Iowa State Patrol, Riverside QRS and Riverside Fire responded.

A vehicle reportedly went down an embankment Saturday morning in the 2600 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Iowa State patrol responded.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Saturday morning in the 1900 block of 250th Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A subject reportedly came into a store in the 600 block of E Avenue in Kalona Saturday evening and reported a truck backed into her car. The incident was documented.

A car was reported in a ditch Sunday morning in the 700 block of East Main Street in Brighton. Officers spoke with the owner, who advised his wife had swerved to miss a deer early that morning. The incident was documented.

A traffic accident was reported Sunday afternoon at Lexington and Highway 1 in Washington. Officers responded. Kevin Paul Miller of Iowa City was cited for failure to maintain control and no proof of insurance.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday evening in the 2900 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

Spencer Thomas Moeller, 18, of Washington, was cited on Aug. 15 at Second Street in and Fifth Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension.

Rollin Bontrager, 46, of Wellman, was cited Saturday morning in the 1000 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman for unsafe passing.

A caller in the 700 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Saturday afternoon that a truck turned in front of him and ran another vehicle off the roadway, almost causing an accident. Officers responded. The driver was counseled.

A vehicle stop was reported Saturday afternoon at Highway 218 and 150th Street in Riverside. Earl Rondnell Simmons, 39, of Fort Madison, was cited for driving under suspension, no proof of insurance and speeding.

A caller at Fifth Street and Highway 22 in Kalona reported Sunday afternoon that a driver had a small child sitting on his lap and there were other children in the vehicle. Officers contact the driver. The incident was documented.

 

Fire calls

A car was reported on fire Saturday evening at Vine Avenue in Riverside. Officers and Riverside Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.

A fire alarm reported detecting smoke Sunday morning in the 3200 block of Elm Avenue in Brighton. Brighton Fire and Brighton QRS responded. No problem.

A car reportedly went into a ditch at Spruce and 240th in Washington Sunday afternoon. The occupants were out of the vehicle and the grass caught fire. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. The fire was extinguished.

 

Assault

A caller in the 500 block of South B Avenue in Washington reported Sunday morning his son assaulted him. The incident is under investigation.

 

Weapons violation

A subject reported Sunday afternoon that a neighbor hit him with a BB gun after wrecking his bicycle. Officers responded. Unfounded.

 

All other thefts

A gas drive-off in the amount of $10.01 was reported Friday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 100 block of South B Avenue in Washington reported Sunday night that when he returned home after being gone a few days, he noticed some things were out of place and he was missing some prescription medication. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

The windows of a truck were reported broken Saturday morning in the 1100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A vehicle was reported keyed Monday morning in the 500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 60 block of North Greene Street in Riverside reported Friday morning that her ex-husband was continually calling her cell phone, work phone and her son. Officers left a message for the subject.

Students were reported harassing other students Friday afternoon in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A possibly intoxicated subject was reported Friday evening in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington yelling at subjects as they go by. Officers responded.

A deputy was requested Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Brighton in reference to harassment from the caller’s neighbors. Officers spoke with all subjects involved.

A caller in the 100 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported Sunday night that her ex-husband would not stop calling and texting her. Officers spoke with the caller and left a message for the subject.

 

Disorderly conduct

Subjects were reported in an altercation Saturday evening in the 200 block of West Main Street in Brighton. Officers responded. The issue was resolved.

A subject was reported causing problems and making threats Sunday morning in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Prowlers

A caller in the 500 block of Main Street in Kalona reported Saturday morning seeing flashlight beams in her neighbor’s yard. Officers responded.

 

Intoxicated pedestrian

A possibly intoxicated subject was reported Saturday evening in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was given a ride back to his residence.

 

Animal complaints

A caller in the 600 block of East Second Street in Washington requested assistance Friday morning removing a bat from the bathroom. Officers responded.

A caller reported hitting a deer Saturday night in the 2100 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The incident was documented.

Jacob Tyler Jones of Eldon, Mo., was cited into court Sunday morning in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue in Riverside for animal neglect.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported Saturday morning in the 20 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Monday morning in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

A bike was reported located Friday morning in the 700 block of West Third Street in Washington on the Kewash Trail. It was taken to the bike shed.

A vehicle reportedly lost a box out of the back in the 400 block of West Fifth Street in Washington Friday morning. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A car horn was reported going off Saturday night in the City of Washington. Officers responded.

 

Family offense non violent

Two subjects were reported yelling at each other Sunday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers responded. No problem.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 1800 block of Nutmeg Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon A Wayland official posted suspicious comments on her 15-year-old daughter’s Facebook account. Officers responded.

A caller in the 400 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that someone damaged her vehicle because she was not able to get into the trunk. Officers responded. No evidence of physical damage.

A possible explosive device was found Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of North C Avenue in Washington. It was a casting of a hand grenade.

A deputy was requested Monday morning toe check the 500 block of Main Street in Kalona for subjects walking around town. Officers responded.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Friday morning on a subject in the 3000 block of Quince Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A welfare check was requested Saturday morning on a subject in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded.

A caller reported Sunday morning she was receiving texts from her ex-boyfriend in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington and thought he may be trying to hurt himself. Officers responded.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Sunday morning that the neighbors had a large mirror on their back porch causing the sun to shine into the caller’s residence. The caller was concerned that it was a fire hazard. Officers attempted to contact the neighbor.
