Arrests

Ryan Allen Craig, 19, of Iowa City, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Center Street in Cambridge, Ill., on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for mittimus on an original charge of possession of marijuana.

Benjamin Philip Asbury, 28, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday evening at South Marion Avenue and West Jefferson Street in Washington for failure to appear on a charge of failure to pay child support.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Raquel Roberts of Ainsworth was cited for unsafe backing.

A car vs. truck accident was reported Tuesday evening in the 300 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Under $1,500 damage was reported. One citation was issued for failure to yield.

 

Traffic other

A parked vehicle was reported struck Tuesday morning in the 200 block of South Airport Road in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Motor vehicle theft

A caller reported Tuesday afternoon that his vehicle was sitting on Palm Street north of Highway 92. The caller believed the vehicle was taken Sunday night in the 700 block of East Fourth Street in Washington. A report will be filed.

 

Burglary

A garage in the 1300 block of East Third Street in Washington was reportedly broken into Tuesday evening. Officers responded and spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

 

Fraud

A case of fraud was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

Someone reportedly hit the arm of a railroad crossing, a caller in the 500 block of North 12th Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday. Officers responded and advised the railroad company was working on it.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 1200 block of Hoot Owl Hollow in Keota reported Wednesday morning that he called the father of his stepson and threatened to involve law enforcement if he didn’t stop harassing the caller’s wife. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

Subjects were reported yelling and screaming in the 400 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington Tuesday afternoon. Officers spoke with the subjects. Verbal only. A second call advised the subjects were yelling at each other again. Officers responded.

 

Search warrant

A search warrant was executed Monday morning in the 300 block of C Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded.

All other offenses

A subject was reported burning rubber Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of East Third Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject removed the item from the fire.

 

Suspicious activities

A suspicious vehicle was reported Friday afternoon in the 2500 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Officers spoke with the subjects, who were under the bridge fishing for bait. They moved the vehicle.

A caller in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon that a subject kept calling her from an unknown number and talking inappropriately. Officers spoke with the subject. He was in Washington, D.C. and advised to stop making inappropriate calls.

A subject was reported dressed all in black and was skateboard northbound at E Avenue and Highway 1 in Kalona Friday evening. Officers responded. No problem.

A caller in the 2500 block of Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth requested extra patrol Monday afternoon due to threats made to her from her brother. The incident was documented.

An officer was requested Monday afternoon in the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington in reference to suspicious activity. Officers spoke with all parties involved. The parties will handle it themselves.

Suspicious activity was reported Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of Second Street in Wellman. The incident is under investigation.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 300 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon taking a vehicle for a test drive at noon and not returning. Officers spoke with the caller. It was a civil matter. Officers later located the vehicle and the driver was arrested for driving under suspension.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Tuesday morning on a subject in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was fine.
