Arrests

Oscar Alberto Velasco Munguia, 20, of Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington for failure to appear for sentencing on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle reportedly spun around Monday morning on Highway 218 in Ainsworth and ended up against a guardrail. The vehicle was damaged and not drivable. The vehicle was towed. No charges. The subject was given a ride to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City due to having an appointment.

An accident was reported Monday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth. Lisa Kay Bruegge of West Point was cited for failure to yield.

 

Disabled vehicles

A truck was reported parked in a no parking zone at A Place and Fifth Street in Kalona Monday morning. Officers spoke with the owner.

 

Traffic other

Leonard Owen Lewis, 22, of Wellman, was cited Monday morning at Highway 22 and larch Avenue in Kalona for driving under suspension – non-payment of Iowa fine.

Rubi Bautista, 35, of Cedar Rapids, was cited Monday evening at West Fifth Street and Highway 1 in Washington for driving under suspension.

 

Burglary

A burglary was reported Monday morning in the 1700 block of Larch Avenue in Wellman. A report will be filed.

 

Vandalism

Someone reportedly cut the wires on Christmas lights in the 3000 block of Peaceful Drive in Riverside. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A possible vagrant was reported outside of a business in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 400 block of West Second Street in Washington reported Monday afternoon receiving threatening messages. Officers spoke with the caller. All parties were advised to have no further contact.

An officer was requested Monday afternoon in the 400 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington in reference to harassing and threatening messages the caller received on Facebook. The subjects were advised to have no further contact. The incident was documented.

An officer was requested Monday evening in the 1000 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington in reference to the caller being threatened over the phone. Officers spoke with all parties.

 

Trespass

A caller in the 1300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that subjects from a rental business were at her residence banging on the doors and windows and honking their horn in an attempt to collect money. Officers responded and advised the company not to return without the proper paperwork or the homeowner’s consent.

 

Animal complaint

A barking dog was reported Saturday evening in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A barking dog was reported Sunday evening in the 1100 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A barking dog was reported Sunday evening in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester. Officers were unable to locate.

A howling dog was reported Monday afternoon in the 1100 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the owners.

A caller in the 500 block of South B Avenue in Washington reported Monday night that there was a dog in his back yard. Officers responded and will speak with the owner.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported Saturday morning in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The music was turned down.

Loud music was reported coming from a trailer at Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A group of subjects was reported being loud and using vulgar language Monday evening at Sunset park in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects had left before officers arrived.

Loud music was reported Monday night in the 200 block of East 15th Street in Washington. Officers responded. The music was turned down.

 

All other offenses

A subject was reported walking on the Wayland Road in Washington Saturday evening. Officers responded. His father picked him up. The incident was documented.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that her 16-year-old son had not come home the previous night. Officers responded. The subject later returned.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 100 block of Highway 92 in West Chester reported Saturday morning that she had a court order stating that she got to have her children all that day and their father did not bring them. The incident was documented for civil purposes.

An officer was requested Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of East Fifth Street in Washington in reference to a situation with the caller’s foster child. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Suspicious activity

A suspicious van was reported Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was working on a property.

A caller in the 600 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported Saturday evening leaving home and locking the door. She reported when she returned the door was unlocked and cracked open. Officers responded. Unfounded.

A suspicious light was reported at a residence in the 1300 block of East Washington Street in Washington Saturday evening. Officers responded. Everything was fine.

A subject was reported in a parking lot in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona Saturday night. Officers responded. The subject was leaving the area.

A caller in the 500 block of South B Avenue in Washington reported a suspicious video on the Internet Sunday afternoon. Officers responded. The video was fraudulent.

Four juveniles reportedly threw something at the caller’s vehicle Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded and spoke with the juveniles’ parents. A verbal warning was given.

Suspicious activity was reported Monday afternoon in the 300 block of 13th Street in Wellman. The incident was documented.

A welfare check was requested Monday afternoon on a subject in the 200 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded
