Arrests

Ryan Fredrick Kimmel, 23, of Washington, was arrested Friday evening in the 700 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington for harassment.

Byron Joel Wiles, 28, of Kalona, was arrested Friday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona for violation of conditions of parole.

William Lyle Morgan, 23, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning at East Jefferson and South Fourth Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension and operating while intoxicated. Charges are pending for possession of a controlled substance.

Roger William Knerr, 52, of Wellman, was arrested Saturday night at F67 and Vine in Wellman for OWI and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Colin Robert Yakish, 22, of Lone Tree, was arrested Sunday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for absence of custody.

 

Charges filed

Charges were filed Dec. 18 on Jacob Creamer, 17, of Washington, for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Traffic accidents

Kalona Fire and Kalona QRS were requested Friday evening in the 5400 block of Highway 1 in Johnson County for a traffic accident with unknown injuries. Officers, Kalona Fire and Kalona QRS responded and assisted.

A vehicle reportedly went into a ditch on Highway 218 in Riverside Saturday afternoon. The vehicle was towed. Another vehicle reportedly went into the ditch at the same location. The vehicle was towed.

A subject reportedly drove a truck into the front of a store in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. Kayley Irene Scott of Washington was cited for expired plates.

 

Disabled vehicle

Lori Fritz of Washington was cited Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington for overtime parking.

 

Traffic other

Stuart Ardell Yoder, 43, of Kalona, was cited Friday evening in the 400 block of A Place in Kalona for driving under suspension.

An oversized load was reportedly hung up on the curb at Highways 1 and 78 in Brighton. Officers and the Iowa State Patrol responded.

 

Fire calls

A heat sensor alarm was reported going off Friday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Washington Fire Department responded. No issue.

Smoke alarms were reported going off in a residence in the 800 block of East Taylor Street in Washington Saturday morning. Washington Fire Department and officers responded.

A commercial fire alarm was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1000 block of North 12th Avenue in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. Issue with the smoke detector.

 

Sexual child abuse

Officers reported Saturday afternoon being out with the Department of Human Services in the city of Washington in reference to possible sexual child abuse. The incident was documented.

Assault

A caller in the 2100 block of Dogwood Avenue in Keota reported Sunday afternoon that a subject assaulted her fiancé. Officers spoke with the caller who will fill out a statement and consider pursuing charges. The incident was documented.

 

All other thefts

A gas drive-off in the amount of $36 was reported Saturday morning in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 200 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Saturday morning receiving harassing text messages. Officers spoke with the caller.

Two subjects were reported harassing children in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona Saturday afternoon. Officers responded. The subjects were advised to have no further contact.

 

Disorderly conduct

A subject was reported being belligerent and punching the walls Sunday evening in the 400 block of E Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. The issue was resolved.

 

Animal complaints

Two dogs were reported outside in the snow Friday morning in the 100 block of South Main Street in Crawfordsville. Officers responded.

A subject in the 1300 block of 240th Street in Keota was reported in the emergency room after being bitten by his own dog. The incident was documented.

 

DP&Q

A verbal disturbance was reported Saturday morning in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A loud party was reported Sunday morning in the 100 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A loud noise was reported coming from a building in the 1200 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. It was a heat exchanged.

 

All other offenses

Subjects were reported burning boxes Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of South Third Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the subjects and made them aware that burning boxes was illegal.

Pheasant hunters were reported in the 1600 block of 140th Street in Wellman Saturday afternoon not wearing orange. Officers were unable to locate.

Steam or smoke was reported coming from a window in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. Steam was coming from a dryer vent.

A strong burning smell and black smoke were reported Sunday afternoon at 247th Street in Washington. Officers responded. No illegal burn was located.

Juveniles were reported throwing ice at houses Sunday evening in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded and spoke with the mother.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 2100 block of Hemlock Avenue in West Chester reported Friday morning that her mother would not return with her 7-year-old child. Officers spoke with all parties. The child was returned.

 

Welfare check

A caller in the 300 block of West Fifth Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that her husband left the residence Thursday night and had not returned. Officers were advised.

A welfare check was requested Sunday afternoon in the 400 block of Fifth Street in Wellman on a subject who didn’t show up for church that day. Officers responded. The subject was fine.

A welfare check was requested Sunday afternoon on a subject in the City of Washington. Officers responded.

A welfare check was requested Sunday night in the 300 block of West Third Street in Washington. Officers responded. No issue.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton reported Saturday afternoon that he and his wife were having an altercation and she had hit him. Officers responded. The issue was resolved.

A caller in the 500 block of South Third Avenue in Washington reported Saturday afternoon that she let someone borrow her car and make payments on it and that person was no longer making payments or in possession of the car. It was a civil matter.
