Arrests

Deborah Lynn Swehla, 32, of Des Moines, was arrested Monday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for three counts of possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree theft.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle reportedly rolled into the median Monday morning at Highway 218 and Old White Way in Ainsworth. Officers responded. The driver advised he was not injured then requested an ambulance. No transport. A state accident report will be filed. The vehicle was towed.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Monday afternoon in the 1900 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Damage was under $1,500. Information was exchanged.

 

Fire calls

A caller in the 3200 block of Orange Avenue in Wayland reported Monday afternoon that their field of “set aside” was on fire. The flames were going away from the barn. The fire was extinguished.

 

Assault

A caller in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Monday afternoon that a subject in a four-door silver vehicle assaulted her in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue Sunday night. The incident is under investigation.

 

All other thefts

A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington Monday afternoon. Officers responded. The purse was located inside the business.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported coming from an apartment in the 700 block of South C Avenue in Washington Monday night. Officers spoke with a subject, who turned the music down.

 

All other offenses

Trash was reported dumped in a business dumpster Monday morning in the 100 block of First Street in Kalona. A name was located in the trash and a subject dumping the trash was recorded on video. Officers left a card for the subject to call. If he returns trespassing charges will be filed.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 400 block of Fourth Street in Wellman reported receiving harassing text messages Monday afternoon in reference to a Craigslist ad. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.
