Arrests

Robert James Shindelar, 38, of Harper, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of Highway 22 in Wellman on a warrant for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

Thomas Lee Blakley, 78, of Ainsworth, was arrested Friday afternoon in Ainsworth on a warrant for pretrial release violation on sex abuse.

Thuc Pham, 40, of Mt. Pleasant, was arrested Saturday afternoon on Highway 218 in Ainsworth for OWI.

Jose Armando Flores-Rivera, 43, of Iowa City, was arrested Sunday morning at A Avenue and Sixth Street in Kalona for driving while intoxicated and operating without a valid driver’s license. He is also being held for Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for an outstanding warrant of deportation for an immigration violation – alien unlawfully present due to order of removal or exclusion from the U.S.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday morning at East Second and North Marion Avenue in Washington. No injuries were reported. Sandra Rich of Washington was cited for failure to yield right of way.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday morning in the 100 block of East Main Street in Washington. Roger Smith of Washington was cited for unsafe backing.

A vehicle reportedly drove off the roadway into a ditch Friday afternoon in the 1700 block of Highway 218 in Riverside. Iowa State Patrol responded. One person was reported injured. Ainsworth QRS, Ainsworth Fire, Riverside QRS, Riverside Rescue, Washington County Ambulance, officers and Washington County Rescue responded. One subject was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday evening in the 1100 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

A school bus stop arm violation was reported Friday afternoon in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington. Virginia Chamberlain of Washington was cited.

A vehicle was reported parked in the 300 block of St. Mary Street in Riverside Friday night. It had been there for 20 minutes with its lights on. Officers responded.

Three vehicles were reported playing some kind of “car tag” Saturday morning at North Third Avenue and 11th Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects later returned to the area. Taylor Austin Stout, 17, of Wellman, was cited fro curfew violation and possession of alcohol under the legal age.

Nathan Douglas Mueller, 22, of Washington, was cited Saturday night in the 500 block of East Washington Street in Washington for driving under suspension.

A caller in the 1100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Sunday evening that she let someone borrow her vehicle with the arrangement that he made payments and was going to buy it. He had stopped making the payments and would not return the vehicle. It was a civil matter.

 

Fire calls

A carbon monoxide detector was reported beeping Friday night in the 1000 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington. Washington Fire and officers responded. Low battery.

A chimney fire was reported Saturday afternoon in the 700 block of East 13th Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded.

Smoke was reported coming from the roofline of a residence in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona. Officers, Kalona Fire, Kalona QRS, Riverside Fire, Wellman Fire, Washington County Ambulance and Alliant all responded.

 

Assault

A caller in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported Saturday evening being assaulted in the City of Washington. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A suspicious smell was reported in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Kalona. Officers executed a search warrant Friday afternoon. A report will be filed.

 

Burglary

A caller in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Sunday afternoon that someone had been inside her vehicle and her apartment. The incident was documented.

 

All other thefts

A package that had been delivered to a residence in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington was reported missing Friday afternoon. The incident was documented.

An officer was requested Sunday morning in the 900 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington in reference to the caller’s ex-girlfriend taking some of his belongings after they broke up. The items had been returned and the caller did not wish to pursue charges. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A caller in the 100 block of East Third Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon that subjects were coming onto the property overnight and damaging a fence. They were also tearing up the parking lot with a vehicle.

The window of a vehicle that was parked at Highway 218 and G36 in Ainsworth was reported shot out Saturday night. Officers responded.

A caller in the 1400 block of Windham Hill Drive in Riverside reported Saturday night that a vehicle sped away when he came home. He believes the occupants were the ones who vandalized his vehicle. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 1600 block of Highland Avenue in Washington reported Sunday afternoon her 12-year-old niece was harassing her. Officers spoke with the niece.

 

Intoxicated pedestrian

Jasmine Rose Bartrow, 17, of Washington, was cited Sunday morning at North D Avenue and West Washington Street in Washington for possession of alcohol under legal age.

 

Trespass

A caller reported Saturday morning that it appeared as if someone was in a building in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. No one was in the building.

 

Animal complaints

A barking dog was reported Saturday morning in the 1100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

 

DP&Q

A vehicle was reported in the 700 block of Ash Street in Riverside Friday morning with a loud exhaust.

Loud music was reported Friday night in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington. Officers responded. Subjects went out the back door as officers were knocking.

A deputy was requested Saturday night in the 500 block of Washington Street in Ainsworth for loud music. Officers were unable to locate.

 

All other offenses

A caller in the 100 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon that her employer would not give her a paycheck. It was a civil matter.

A possible violation of a no-contact order was reported Friday afternoon in the 600 block of Tam Street in Ainsworth. The incident was documented.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller in the 100 block of West Tyler Street in Washington reported Saturday night that her sister hadn’t made contact with the family for over 24 hours. Officers responded.

 

Civil dispute

An officer was requested in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington Friday night to help the caller retrieve a 92-inch TV from a customer. Officers responded. It was a civil issue.

 

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported Friday afternoon in the Washington County. The incident is under investigation.
