Arrests

Andrew Marshall Pearcy, 28, of Brighton, was arrested Wednesday night in the 500 block of East Madison Street in Brighton on a South Carolina warrant for parole violation.

Justin Alan Evans, 31, of Brighton, was arrested Wednesday night in the 500 block of East Madison Street in Brighton for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle reportedly backed into another vehicle Wednesday afternoon in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. The vehicle then drove off. Officers spoke with the owners of both vehicles. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported Wednesday afternoon that someone struck a vehicle he was working on. The incident was documented.

 

Fire calls

Smoke was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 4800 block of SW Cosgrove Road in Kalona. Kalona Fire Department responded. It was a controlled burn.

A strong gas odor was reported Wednesday evening in the 700 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. Washington County Ambulance was requested.

 

Weapon violation

An officer reported Thursday morning being out at a residence in the 300 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton. A subject was reported in possession of a firearm. The incident is under investigation.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

Officers responded being out in the 2200 block of 250th Street in Washington Wednesday night with a subject. Charges are pending per DCI lab results.

An officer reported being out with a subject in the 10 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Charges are pending on possession of a controlled substance.

Officers reported Wednesday night being in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington. Charges are pending per lab results.

Officers responded being in in the 1100 block of Elm Avenue in Wellman Wednesday night. Charges are pending per lab results.

An officer reported Thursday morning being out in the 10 block of Railroad Street in Riverside and locating drug items. Charges are pending.

 

Motor vehicle theft

A vehicle was reported stolen Wednesday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The vehicle was running and unlocked. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

A suspicious vehicle was reported parked at the underpass of Highways 22 and 218 in Riverside. The vehicle was reported stolen out of North Liberty.

 

Vandalism

Eggs were reported thrown into a yard and driveway in the 1200 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington Wednesday morning. The incident was documented.

 

Animal complaints

Brenda Lee Williams, 45, of Brighton, was cited Tuesday afternoon in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton for allowing a dog to run at large.

A caller in the 600 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Wednesday morning that the neighbor’s dog attacked another neighbor’s cat in her yard. Terry Lee McAllister of Washington was cited for allowing a dog to run at large.

A welfare check was requested on horses Wednesday evening in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth. Officers responded.

A caller in Washington County reported Wednesday afternoon purchasing two puppies from a woman in Wellman and it appeared as if they had been abused. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A loose pit bull was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Wednesday evening in the 200 block of East Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A loud truck was reported Thursday morning in the 400 block of East 15th Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

An issue with a student wandering off school grounds was reported Tuesday morning in the 800 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The child was located.

An officer was requested Tuesday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington to assist with a situation between students. The students were counseled and the parents were notified.

A caller in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon she believed her landlord was withholding her mail. Officers spoke with the landlord. He was advised to turn over the mail.

 

Family offense non violent

An officer reported being out with a domestic situation in the 500 block of South Mechanic Street in Brighton Tuesday afternoon. The parties were separated.

 

Runaway/missing person

A student reportedly walked away from school in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington without permission Wednesday morning. Officers responded. The student was returned to school.

A student reportedly left a building in the 800 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington without permission Wednesday afternoon. Officers responded. The child was returned.

A caller in the 1300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon that her 17-year-old foster son and her Chevy Cavalier were missing. The subjects showed up in Ottumwa.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday night that someone was possibly outside the residence on foot. Officers were unable to locate.

A suspicious subject was reportedly checking out of a motel in the 100 block of Westview Drive in Washington Wednesday afternoon and may have done some damage to the room. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Welfare check

A caller reported Wednesday afternoon not having contact with a subject in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.
