Robert William Gatewood, 25, of Wellman, was arrested Wednesday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Johnson County warrant for failure to appear for formal in court probation review reference domestic abuse assault bodily injury.
Justin Joseph Halter, 35, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Wednesday evening at Highway 218 and 220th Street in Ainsworth for public intoxication.
A caller in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported Wednesday morning that a vehicle was hit sometime during the night. There was a dent to the passenger’s side taillight. No paint transfer.
A caller in the 400 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington reported Wednesday morning a phone line came down and pulled the box off, which damaged her vehicle. Siding to a residence was also damaged. Mediacom and Windstream were also notified. The incident was documented.
A vehicle was reported sitting in the roadway in the 2700 block of 240th Street in Washington. Officers responded. No one was around. The vehicle was towed.
A vehicle reportedly came around the corner at Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue in Wellman at the school crossing Wednesday morning and did two cookies in the roadway. Officers responded and counseled the driver.
A caller in the 2300 block of Kiwi Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon being scammed out of about $2,000. The subject was referred to the Federal Trade Commission.
A caller in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon that a subject had written a bad check for $300 toward a fundraiser. The subject was back with another subject and they didn’t want this to happen again. The subjects began to argue and get out of control. One subject was served a 10-day notice pertaining to the bad check. The parties were separated. The incident was documented.
All other thefts
A caller in the 1200 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon purchasing a Nook on the Washington County Online Garage Sale site and it was defective. Officers spoke with the caller. It was a civil matter.
A barking dog was reported Wednesday evening in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton. Ambir Cookson of Brighton was cited for allowing a dog to bark.
All other offenses
A horse and buggy were reported travelling eastbound on Highways 22 at Palm Avenue in Kalona with no driver. Kalona Fire Department responded and advised the owner. The animal was caught. Problem resolved.
