A vehicle vs. child accident was reported Tuesday afternoon at 560th Street SW and Gable Avenue SW in Kalona. Kalona QRS and Kalona Fire responded to assist Johnson County.
A caller in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported Tuesday afternoon that his vehicle was in a hit-and-run accident sometime Friday evening. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.
A hit-and-run accident was reported Tuesday evening in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Over $1,500 damage was reported. Information was exchanged. A report will be filed.
Motor vehicle theft
A caller in the 1400 block of Champion Lane in Riverside reported Tuesday evening his son’s pickup was missing from his son’s residence. There was a misunderstanding and the vehicle was located. No problem.
All other thefts
A caller in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon two child care checks had been cashed. A suspect had also filed taxes for the caller online and had the money sent to a store card. The incident is under investigation.
A gas drive-off in the amount of $18.47 was reported Tuesday evening in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman. Officers contacted the driver who said he would return and pay.
A caller in the 400 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported Tuesday morning that someone had placed two bags of trash in the caller’s receptacle. Officers didn’t find any identifiers.
A caller in the 200 block of South D Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon that a subject harmed her cat. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.
A dog belonging in the 100 block of North Pine Street in Crawfordsville was reported in the caller’s garage and would not come out. Tanya Jo Hesseltine of Crawfordsville was cited for allowing a dog to run at large.
All other offenses
An officer was requested Tuesday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington to walk a non-compliant student to class, per the county attorney’s suggestion. The student left the school with the officer. The student was later released to her mother.
A small child was reported sitting in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington for a long period of time Tuesday evening. The child was supposed to be at the YMCA per the parents.
Family offense non violent
An officer was requested Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington in reference to the caller’s son refusing to go to an appointment. Officers spoke with the caller and advised the police could not force the subject to go to an appointment. The caller was advised of her options.
A caller in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon not being able to get ahold of a subject whose truck had been in the parking lot of a couple of days. A welfare check was requested. Officers spoke with the landlord and left a message for the subject.
