Arrests

Brandon Eugene-Curtis Loring, 32, of Wayland, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Jefferson County warrant for harassment.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Wednesday morning at Kiwi Avenue and Highway 22 in Kalona. No injuries were reported. One vehicle was not drivable and the other was in the ditch. The vehicles were towed. A state accident report will be filed.

 

Traffic other

A vehicle was reported partially on the roadway Wednesday morning at Riverside Road and 150th Street in Washington. The vehicle was a hazard and causing problems from road maintenance. The vehicle was towed.

A vehicle was reported parked in the roadway Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

 

Burglary

A burglary and theft of items were reported Wednesday morning in the 1800 block of Dogwood Avenue in Wellman. The incident is under investigation.

 

All other thefts

A gas drive-off in the amount of $10.10 was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. A message was left for the driver to return and pay. The incident was documented.

A cell phone was reported missing Wednesday evening in the 100 block of B Avenue in Kalona. The incident was documented.

 

Animal complaints

A caller in the 1600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday morning that the neighbor’s dog got loose every day. The caller reported that when a child had tried to catch it, she was bitten on the finger. The caller had spoken with the dog owner who seemed unconcerned. Officers responded. A verbal warning for allowing a dog to run at large was given. A dog bite form was filled out.

 

Suspicious activity

A suspicious vehicle was reported Thursday morning in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman running with its lights on. Officers responded. The vehicle had left prior to officers’ arrival.
