Arrests

Abelino Narciso Diaz, 28, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Washington for failure to appear for show cause on domestic abuse assault.

Ryan Dean Steinberg, 21, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Mahaska County warrant for probation violation on an original charge of prohibited acts.

Keith Edward Penelton, 53, of Coralville, was arrested Tuesday evening in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman for domestic abuse.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported Tuesday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

A vehicle was reported stuck on the street Tuesday evening in the 2200 block of 200th Street in Washington. The vehicle was pulled out before deputies were able to locate the driver. Officers will be sending a letter of warning.

A vehicle was reported mud running Tuesday evening in the 3000 block of 135th Street in Riverside. Officers located the vehicle that was stuck, but were unable to locate the driver. A letter of warning will be sent.

 

Fire calls

A caller in the 1400 block of Underwood Avenue in Riverside requested help Tuesday afternoon getting a dog out of the pond. The dog had fallen through the ice. Riverside Fire Department and officers responded. The dog was safely returned to shore.

 

Sexual assault

A case of sexual abuse was reported Tuesday afternoon in Washington County. The incident is under investigation.

 

Fraud

A caller in the 1100 block of Red Oak Avenue in Riverside reported Tuesday afternoon unauthorized charges on her debit card. The incident was documented. The caller’s bank reimbursed her.

A caller in the 1600 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon that someone used his Social Security number to obtain Dish Network. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

 

Vandalism

An abandoned house in the 2900 block of Red Oak Avenue in Washington was reported vandalized Tuesday morning. A car was also sitting on the property that had been shot up and the shell casings were still in the vehicle. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

An officer was requested Tuesday morning in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington for a 16-year-old student who was being insubordinate. Officers responded. The student was suspended from school and was advised any future problems would result in charges.

A subject was reported out of control Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Brighton. Officers responded.

An officer was requested Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington for a student who was not listening. Officers responded. Problem resolved.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported coming from a residence in the 700 block of South C Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and counseled the subject.

 

Runaway/missing person

Two juveniles were reported in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Kalona Tuesday morning. The caller reported they had said they were runaways from a shelter. Officers responded. The two were released to the Iowa City Police Department.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington after the caller heard yelling in the back of a phone call. Officers responded and tried to make contact with the subjects.
