Arrests

Keith Edward Penelton was arrested Tuesday evening in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman for domestic abuse assault and violation of a no contact order.

Kathleen Dianne Young, 37, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the City of Washington on a warrant for dependent adult abuse.

Benjamin James Curtis, 34, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday evening in the 100 block of Westview Drive in Washington for trespass.

 

Charges filed

Charges were filed on Jakub Allen Calhoun, 15, of Washington, Jan. 23 for second-degree sexual abuse.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller reported Wednesday morning his vehicle was in the ditch in the 3300 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth. Iowa State Patrol, Washington County Ambulance, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Rescue and Ainsworth Fire responded.

 

Disabled vehicles

A vehicle was requested to be towed Wednesday morning in the 1700 block of Highway 218 in Riverside to assist with snow removal.

A vehicle was requested to be towed Wednesday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth to assist with snow removal.

A vehicle was reported parked in the wrong direction Wednesday morning in the 200 block of North 13th Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner. The incident was documented.

A vehicle was reported stuck in the 2900 block of Timberline Drive in Riverside. Officers responded. The owner was served a Level B notice.

 

Fire calls

Kalona Fire was requested Wednesday afternoon in the 1400 block of SW Black Diamond Road in Kalona for a vehicle that exploded inside of a garage. Kalona Fire and QRS responded.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 300 block of North Grant Street in Crawfordsville reported Wednesday evening that she was receiving harassing phone calls and text messages. Officers spoke with the caller.

A caller in the 600 block of West Adams Street in Washington reported Wednesday evening receiving harassing calls and text messages from her ex-husband and his current girlfriend. Officers responded.

 

Disorderly conduct

Subjects were reported fighting Wednesday morning in the 200 block of East 15th Street in Washington. Officers responded. The parties calmed down.

A deputy was requested Thursday morning in the 1100 block of Eighth Street in Wellman to remove the caller’s girlfriend. The caller reported she had broken all the windows out of his home. Officers responded. The subject was advised not to return to the residence or she would be charged with trespass.

 

Animal complaints

A caller in the 600 block of West Adams Street in Washington reported Wednesday night that her dog’s hair was tangled in the bedsprings under her bed and requested assistance. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

Three subjects were reported dressed in heavy clothing with their faces covered Wednesday afternoon         in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington. Officers responded.

Two juveniles were reported kicking and shaking pop machines in the 500 block of West Madison Street in Washington Wednesday evening. Officers responded. A couple was trying to get their pop out of the dispenser and the buttons were frozen. No problem.

A vehicle was reported sitting in a parking lot in the 200 block of East First Street in Riverside Wednesday night with a subject inside and it had been there for an hour. Officers responded. Two subjects were inside talking.

 

Welfare check

An officer reported Wednesday morning being in the 2500 block of Violet Avenue in Ainsworth with the Department of Human Services for a welfare check. The incident was documented.
