Arrests

Virginia Lynn Bobbitt, 57, of Washington, was arrested Friday evening in the 300 block of North C Avenue in Washington for harassment.

Robert Leeroy Smithburg, 47, of What Cheer, was arrested Friday evening at Sixth and Fourth Street in Wellman for driving while barred.

Eric James Ross, 55, of Marion, was arrested Sunday morning at Highway 218 and 170th Street in Riverside for OWI.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller reported wrecking his 2008 Dodge truck Friday afternoon in the 3100 block of Coppock Road in Washington. The truck was upside down in a ditch. Officers responded. James Sedlacek of Wayland was cited for failure to maintain control.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday evening in the 1600 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Information was exchanged. Under $1,500 damage was reported.

A vehicle reportedly slid into the ditch Saturday morning at Highway 218 milepost 74 in Ainsworth.

A vehicle in the 700 block of South C Avenue in Washington reportedly appeared to have been struck by another vehicle. The incident was documented.

A traffic accident was reported Saturday afternoon on Highway 218 in Riverside. Officers were unable to locate.

A vehicle was reported in the ditch Saturday afternoon at 330th and Wayland Road in Wayland. Officers were unable to locate.

A vehicle accident was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1900 block of East Washington Street in Washington.

Two vehicles reportedly sideswiped each other Saturday afternoon at Highway 218 in Riverside. Officers responded. Information was exchanged.

A vehicle reportedly slid into the front of a store in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. Information was exchanged.

A vehicle was reported in a steep ditch Sunday morning at Elm Avenue and Highways 1 and 78 in Brighton. The vehicle was towed. David Hickenbottom of Washington was cited for failure to maintain control.

A vehicle vs. dog accident was reported Sunday evening in the 800 block of West Madison Street in Washington. The owner was located. Under $1,500 damage was reported.

 

Traffic other

A vehicle was reported parked in the 800 block of South C Avenue in Washington Friday afternoon and it had been there for a week. Officers left a note for the possible owner.

A vehicle with its hazards on was reported parked Saturday afternoon at G36 and Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Fire calls

A diesel spill was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department responded.

A fire/heat alarm was reported Monday morning in the 1000 block of North 12th Avenue in Washington. Officers and the Washington Fire Department responded. No fire.

 

Sexual assault

A possible case of sexual abuse was reported Friday afternoon in the City of Washington. The incident is under investigation.

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer was requested Friday afternoon in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington for assistance. A doctor reportedly could not refill a prescription for a patient and they were concerned about the subject’s reaction. No problems.

 

Motor vehicle theft

A vehicle was reported stolen from the parking lot of a business in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The vehicle was running and unlocked. A dog with no collar was also reported in the vehicle. Officers responded.

A stolen vehicle was reported located in the 1200 block of East Baker Street in Mt. Pleasant with a subject sleeping inside with the dog in the back. The owner was contacted and retrieved the vehicle.

 

Fraud

A credit card was reportedly stolen in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington Friday afternoon and used at several businesses in the city. Officers responded. A report will be filed.

 

All other thefts

A gas drive-off in the amount of $30.66 was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A shopping cart was reportedly pushed into a vehicle in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 90 block of West First Street in Riverside reported Friday afternoon being threatened by a business owner over an ongoing parking issue. Officers responded. The subjects were advised to stay out of each other’s businesses.

 

Trespass

Two subjects were refusing to leave a property in the 3300 block of Locust Avenue in Wayland Saturday evening. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Mental subject

A caller in the 300 block of North C Avenue in Washington requested an ambulance for Michael from Tennessee who was upstairs flipping out. Officers responded.

 

Animal complaints

A dog was reported in the roadway Friday afternoon in the 2700 block of Highway 1 in Washington. It appeared to be frozen. Officers responded.

A loose dog was reported Saturday morning in the 100 block of Westview Drive in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

An injured dog was reported Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of East Sixth Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

A loose dog was reported Sunday afternoon in the 800 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington. A verbal warning was given.

A barking dog was reported Sunday morning in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington. Officers responded. The owner was made aware of the complaint.

Horses in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in Washington reportedly had no water and a bale of frozen hay Sunday morning. Officers spoke with a subject who was caring for the animals.

A dog was reported outside Sunday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The dog looked skinny and was outside in extreme cold. Officers responded. The dog was inside on arrival and appeared adequately nourished.

A dog was reported outside Sunday night in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The dog was taken inside.

 

Barking dog

A barking dog was reported Friday night in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

A subject was reported riding his snowmobile in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona Saturday evening tearing things up. Officers responded. The subject was advised to use the path.

Loud music was reported Saturday night in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

A subject in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona registered a change of address Friday morning.

Illegal hunters from Illinois were reported Saturday morning in the 2800 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Washington. A verbal warning was given.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 700 block of South C Avenue in Washington reported Friday evening her husband made her leave the residence and would not let her have the children.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Sunday night on a subject in the 300 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman.
