Arrests

Allen Lee Bettcher, 66, of Hedrick, was arrested Friday morning at Elm and Highways 1 and 78 in Brighton for OWI.

Anthony Lee Ossman, 20, of Washington, was arrested Friday evening in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for failure to appear for violation of probation on possession of a controlled substance.

Kim Stogner, 47, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington for OWI and failure to provide security against liability, accident related.

Ryan Stewart Turner, 34, of Iowa City, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of North Main Street in Crawfordsville for operating without owner’s consent, driving while barred, and improper registration.

Christopher Cameron, 20, of Washington, was arrested Sunday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington for failure to appear for initial on an original charge of criminal mischief.

Bodhi Paul Eagle, 20, of Washington, was arrested Sunday evening at West Washington and South Iowa Avenue in Washington on a warrant for failure to appear to serve mittimus on an original charge of OWI and non-completion of the OWI program.

 

Traffic accidents

A hit and run accident was reported Saturday night in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

A caller in the 3300 block of 190th Street in Columbus Junction reported Friday afternoon someone had started his vehicle and let it run all night. All the oil had run out and the motor was ruined. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

Alan Edward Schechterly II, 29, of St. Peters, Mo., was cited Sunday night at Highway 218 in Washington for driving under revocation and speeding.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer reported being on a vehicle stop at Second Avenue and Seventh Street in Washington Saturday morning. Charges are pending for possession of a controlled substance.

 

Burglary

An apartment in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington was reported broken into Sunday night. Nothing was taken. The incident was documented.

 

Fraud

A possible dependent adult abuse case was reported Friday morning in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 500 block of 11th Street in Kalona reported Friday evening getting a call from a debt collection service who requested her bank account information, which she provided. They already had her Social Security number. Officers spoke with the caller, who was advised to freeze her bank account. The incident was documented.

 

All other thefts

A bicycle was reported stolen Friday afternoon in the 600 block of South Eighth Avenue in Washington. Officers were advised.

A deputy was requested Friday evening in the 3300 block of 190th Street in Columbus Junction in reference to some items that were taken. Officers spoke with the caller. The items were returned the same day. The incident was documented.

Two packages of hamburger were reported stolen Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton reported Sunday afternoon that a subject had stolen his bike from his yard a few weeks ago. The caller said he gave the subject a chance to return it and he had not. Officers responded. The bike was returned to the owner.

A missing mailbox was reported Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers will attempt to locate.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A possible violation of a no-contact order was reported Friday morning in the 500 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

A caller in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Saturday morning a subject was harassing her. Officers spoke with the subject.

 

Disorderly conduct

A deputy was requested Sunday morning in the 500 block of Main Street in Kalona to assist in getting the caller’s 44-year-old son to leave the residence. Officers responded.

 

Liquor law violations

A bar in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Brighton was reported Sunday morning serving alcohol after hours. Officers will speak with the owner. The incident was documented.

 

Animal complaint

Barking dogs were reported Friday morning in the 100 block of South Benton Street in Brighton. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

A horse was reported Friday evening in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth. Officers spoke with the owner.

A loose dog was reported Saturday morning in the 800 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A loose dog was reported Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of Cedar Street in West Chester. Officers responded.

Two loose dogs were reported Sunday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

A caller in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported Friday morning the neighbor at the end of the road had been playing loud music. Officers spoke with the neighbor.

Loud music was reported Sunday afternoon in the 10 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers responded.

A group of teenagers were reported Sunday night in the 200 block of North C Avenue in Washington being loud. Officers were unable to locate.

 

All other offenses

Two subjects were reported Saturday afternoon in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington telling the caller they were homeless and didn’t have any money. Officers responded. The subjects were gone on arrival.

Someone reportedly shot a construction trailer Sunday afternoon in the 1500 block of Riverside Road in Riverside. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 500 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reported Saturday morning being in a verbal argument with her children’s father over the tightness of the child seats in the vehicle. Officers responded. The seats seemed to be installed properly.

A caller in the 600 block of Third Street in Wellman reported Sunday afternoon she and her son were fighting over living conditions. Officers responded. Verbal only.

Yelling was reported Sunday evening in the 700 block of 12th Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded. The parties were separated.

 

Suspicious activity

Subjects were reported in the 1800 block of 155th Street in Wellman Saturday night and appeared to have been tampering with things on a job site. Officers responded.

A caller reported hearing something in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington Monday morning. Officers responded. Subjects were unloading scaffolding.

 

Runaway/missing person

A small child was reported walking in the roadway in the 1700 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded and returned the child to the people who were responsible for him while the parents were away.

 

Public service contact

Two subjects were reported in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington Friday afternoon stating their vehicle was broken down and they needed a ride. Officers responded.
