Jason Ernst Schneider, 39, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday evening in the 1900 block of 250th Street in Washington for OWI.
Daryl Lee Cole, 40, of Quasueton, was arrested Tuesday night at Highway 22 and Gum Avenue in Wellman for condition release violation.
Someone reportedly backed into a car in the 1700 block of East Washington Street in Washington Tuesday afternoon. The subject left a note, but not a name. The other party had already contacted the insurance company. The incident was documented.
A caller in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon that a white van hit the back of his vehicle. While he was on the phone, the other driver came out. Information was exchanged.
A two-vehicle traffic accident was reported Tuesday afternoon at Highway 1 and West Fifth Street in Washington. Washington County Ambulance, officers and Washington County Rescue responded. One subject was transported to the Washington County Hospital. Over $1,500 damage was reported. Scott Janoch was cited for no proof of insurance. Dorthea Miller was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
A semi reportedly ran off the road Tuesday afternoon and was on the side of the roadway with a construction barrel under her vehicle. Iowa State Patrol responded. The caller later advised she was able to get the barrel out from under the vehicle and was on her way.
Traffic stop serious
Officers reported making a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon at Juniper Avenue and Highway 92 in West Chester and a consent search was conducted. A citation was given for no driver’s license.
A carbon monoxide detector was reported going off Tuesday morning in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. No problem. Faulty detector.
All other thefts
A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of 13th Street in Wellman Tuesday morning.
A handgun was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 400 block of North Farmer Street in Brighton Wednesday morning. A report will be filed.
A caller reported Tuesday afternoon that a subject was harassing her in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects were advised to have no further contact.
A possible violation of a no-contact order was reported Tuesday evening in the 200 block of Franklin Street in West Chester. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to have no contact.
Four horses were reported neglected Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester. Officers responded and advised observing plenty of grass to eat.
A horse was reported out Tuesday night in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington. Officers responded. The horses were in on officers’ arrival. A verbal warning was given.
A caller in the 500 block of West Second Street in Washington requested assistance with an animal situation Tuesday night. Officers responded.

A bicycle was reported lying on the curb in the 1400 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington and it had been there for two days. Officers responded and took it to the bike shed.
A subject was reported shooting off fireworks Tuesday night in the 800 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.
A vehicle was reported outside of a residence in the 600 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington Tuesday morning and a subject was watching someone. Officers contacted the subject. No problem.
A subject was reported in the parking lot in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington Tuesday afternoon acting strange. He was pacing back and forth and appeared nervous. Officers contacted the subject, who was waiting on someone at the clinic. No problem.
An alarm was reported Tuesday morning in the 30 block of Locust lane in Washington. Officers and Washington County Ambulance responded. The alarm was an error.
