Arrests

William Lyle Morgan, 25, of Washington, was arrested Thursday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 1 in Washington for driving under bar.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington.

A hit-and-run accident was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Damage was reported to the front bumper of the vehicle. The incident was documented.

An accident was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. Information was exchanged. The incident occurred on private property. No citations.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Thursday morning at 315th Street and Coppock Road in Washington. Officers were advised. The incident was documented.

 

Intoxicated driver

A caller in the 700 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday night that his wife was intoxicated and trying to leave the residence. Officers responded. The wife was at the residence when officers arrived. Officers spoke with all parties.

 

Fire calls

The inside of a car parked in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington was reportedly beginning to smoke Wednesday night. Officers and Washington Fire Department responded. The blower motor was smoking but there was no fire.

A fire call was reported Wednesday night in the 1000 block of East Main Street in Washington.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 700 block of 13th Street in Kalona reported Wednesday morning that her ex-boyfriend stole her wallet before moving out. Officers spoke with the caller and attempted to contact the subject.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $60.21 was reported Wednesday evening in the 200 block of East First Street in Riverside. Officers were advised. The license plates did not match the description.

 

Vandalism

Subjects were reported staying in a vacant property in the 900 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington without the caller’s permission Wednesday morning. The subjects left personal items and trash in the house. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller reported Wednesday afternoon that a subject was harassing him in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. No words had been exchanged between the parties and there is not a no-contact order. The incident was documented.

 

Animal complaints

A caller in the 200 block of Washington Street in Ainsworth reported Wednesday morning that a stray cat bit his 12-year-old daughter. Officers spoke with the caller.

An Angus bull was reported Wednesday evening in the backyard of a residence in the 1400 block of 310th Street in Brighton. The bull was located and caught.

A barking dog was reported Wednesday evening in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington, The owner was given a verbal warning.

 

DP&Q

Subjects were reported shooting bottle rockets Wednesday evening in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona. Officers responded. The remaining fireworks were seized.

Loud music was reported coming from a lot in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona Wednesday night. The music was down on arrival.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller in the 1500 block of 155th Street in Wellman reported Wednesday afternoon a subject had left the residence and had not returned. The subject later returned and was cancelled from the system.

 

Suspicious activity

A suspicious subject was reported in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington Wednesday afternoon with a large rock asking customers for a ride. Officers responded and advised the subject not to return to the business or he would face trespass charges.

A caller in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Wellman reported Thursday morning that a suspicious vehicle had pulled in and she wanted a deputy to respond before she went inside.
