A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Tuesday morning in the 2000 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Officers responded. The vehicle was towed.
A truck reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Orange Avenue and 170th Street in Kalona and struck another vehicle Tuesday afternoon. Officers responded. Bruce Hardt of Keota was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway. One subject was transported by private vehicle to Washington County Hospital and Clinics. Damage was over $1,500.
A caller reported Tuesday evening backing into a vehicle in the 100 block of South B Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Harry Kitchen was cited for failure to maintain control. Over $1,500 damage was reported.
A possible building on fire was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 5300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona. Kalona Fire and Kalona QRS responded. It was a trash fire.
A deputy was requested Tuesday morning in the 2800 block of Coppock Road in Washington in reference to an assault involving the caller’s wife. The incident was documented. The caller did not want to pursue charges but wanted officers to speak with the other party. Officers attempted to locate.
A possible fraud situation was reported Tuesday morning in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington. Officers responded. Four charges were reported and will be taken care of and stopped.
All other thefts
A caller in the 1200 block of 310th Street in Brighton reported Tuesday morning that her purse was stolen on July 28. Officers spoke with the caller.
A caller reported Tuesday evening her tire was slashed while parked in the 500 block of 11th Street in Kalona. Officers responded. The incident was documented.
A caller in the 2100 block of Fir Avenue in Keota reported Tuesday afternoon receiving harassing messages. Two subjects were advised to stop harassing the caller.
A subject was reported trespassing on people’s property in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona Wednesday morning. This is a regular occurrence. Officers spoke with the subject and advised if he continued to trespass on the neighbors’ properties trespassing charges could be filed.
Officers reported being out in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington Wednesday morning. They made contact with a subject to advise the dogs were running loose. They were advised to keep the dogs on their property.
An officer was requested Tuesday afternoon in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington in reference to suspicious activity.
A van was reported Tuesday night in the 200 block of West Third Street in Washington that had been sitting with its door open for about 20 minutes. Officers spoke with the owner. The van was secured.
A welfare check was requested Tuesday night on the caller’s 18-year-old son in the 600 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.
