Arrests

Jamie Kay McKim, 25, of Fairfield, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension.

David Sebastian Riness, 19, of Brighton, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at G36 and North 12th Avenue in Washington for probation violation on OWI.

Randy Allan Akers, 41, of West Point, was arrested Wednesday evening in the 200 block of East First Street in Riverside for failure to appear on a charge of driving under suspension.

Kimberly Diane Redmann, 38, of Kalona, was arrested Wednesday evening at Lexington and Highway 1 in Washington for absence from custody.

Dalton Jack Marine, 18, of Wellman, was arrested Thursday morning in the 1300 block of Fir Avenue in Wellman for failure to appear for mittimus on an assault charge.

Dionicio Amaro Canizal, 63, of Muscatine, was arrested Thursday evening in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for fifth-degree theft and interference with official acts.

Lewis Alan Jones, 23, of Washington, was arrested Thursday night in the 600 block of West Madison Street in Washington for OWI.

 

Charges filed

Charges were filed on Ti Jon Harrill, 12, of Washington for reckless use of fire or incendiary device in reference to an incident on June 25. Charges were also filed on Benjamin Guy Scott, 14, of Washington, for aiding and abetting in the reckless use of fire or incendiary device.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller in the 2300 block of 133rd Street in Kalona reported Wednesday afternoon a vehicle had struck his vehicle sometime since the previous night. The incident was documented.

A motorcycle accident with injuries was reported Wednesday evening in the 2000 block of 280th Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 600 block of East Harrison Street in Washington reported Thursday morning his vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run accident. The incident was documented.

A deer reportedly hit the caller’s minivan on Highway 218 and 310th Street in Crawfordsville. Officers responded. The vehicle was towed.

 

Fire calls

An audible alarm was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. It was a false alarm.

A fire alarm was reported Thursday morning in the 900 block of Fifth Street in Kalona. Kalona Fire Department responded.

 

Assault

Officers responded Wednesday morning to the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington in reference to a family dispute in which the caller’s brother pushed her. The caller did not wish to pursue charges.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A deputy was requested Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of First Street in Wellman for possible drug-related items. Officers responded. The items were not drug-related.

 

Forgery

A caller in the 800 block of South 12th Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon someone had forged a check in her name. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

 

Fraud

A caller in the 500 block of 14th Street in Wellman reported Wednesday morning that her mother used her name and Social Security number to open a Mediacom account. The incident was documented.

 

All other thefts

Someone reportedly stole a boat motor Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton. Officers responded.

A bicycle was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A vehicle was reported vandalized Thursday morning in the 1900 block of 335th Street in Brighton. Officers were advised.

A vehicle was reported vandalized Thursday afternoon in the 1100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Two subjects reportedly broke a glass bottle on the lower basketball court at Sunset Park in Washington. Officers responded and made the subjects clean up the glass.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A case of harassment was reported Wednesday afternoon in Riverside. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 200 block of South D Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday night a subject who was just released from jail was threatening her daughter. Officers responded.

A caller in the 400 block of East Fourth Street in Riverside reported Thursday morning her brother’s ex-girlfriend was threatening him. Officers spoke with all parties. Parents were made aware of the situation. The incident was documented.

An intoxicated subject was reported Friday morning in the 500 block of Sixth Street in Ainsworth threatening some of the caller’s family members. Officers responded. The subjects were advised to have no further contact.

 

Disorderly conduct

Subjects in the 500 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reportedly threw full beer cans at the caller’s truck and his friend’s car. Officers spoke with all parties. The subjects advised the caller and his friend sped past the residence and that was why they threw the cans. All subjects were advised to have no further contact.

A large party and a bonfire was reported Thursday night in the 3000 block of Coppock Road in Washington. The caller was concerned about all the beer cans and broken bottles in the roadway. Officers responded.

 

Trespass

Someone reportedly drove through a cornfield in the 1000 block of Dogwood Avenue in Wellman Thursday afternoon. There was another truck that was there to help pull the first truck out of the sand prior to it driving through the field. Officers responded. Mitchell Douglas Barthelman, 22, of Kalona, was cited for trespass.

 

Liquor law violations

Cited Thursday morning at Kiwi and 335th in Brighton for possession of alcohol under legal age were: Morgan Cameron, 18; Brianna Salow, 19, of Washington; Jarek Brown, 15; Tristan Pohren, 17; and Matthew Grote, 18.

 

Animal complaints

A loose dog was reported Wednesday morning in the 1500 block of First Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

A barking dog was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

A barking dog was reported Friday morning in the 100 block of North Railroad Street in Ainsworth. The incident was documented.

 

DP&Q

Subjects in the 2700 block of Coppock Road in Washington were reported shooting off large fireworks Wednesday evening. Officers spoke with the subjects.

Loud music was reported Friday morning at Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Fireworks were reported going off Friday morning in the 400 block of West Fifth Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A loud party was reported Friday morning in the 400 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

Subjects were reported shooting off bottle rockets Friday morning in the 20 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

Subjects were reported setting off firecrackers Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Wednesday evening he and a neighbor were having a dispute over a cage. Officers responded. It was a civil matter.

Someone was reported shooting off fireworks Wednesday night at South Fourth and East Van Buren in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A possible misuse of 911 was reported Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of South D Avenue in Washington. The subject was counseled.

An officer was requested Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington for jewelry items located in the street. Officers responded.

Fireworks were reported going off Thursday night in the 400 block of West Third Street in Washington. Officers were advised.

Subjects were reported shooting off fireworks Thursday night in the 600 block of A Avenue in Kalona. Officers spoke with the subjects.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller reported Thursday night that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend would not let her in the residence in the 600 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman to get her keys and purse. Officers responded. The female subject gathered her things and left for the evening.

 

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. A subject was trying to gain access to the building. Officers responded. The subject was there doing work.

An officer was requested Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington for check a suspicious haze. Officers responded.

Subjects with flashlights were reported around an RV Friday morning in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.
