Arrests

Curtis Anthony Cousins, 29, of Washington, was arrested Friday morning in the 1100 block of East Tyler Street in Washington for failure to appear contempt or refusal to pay fine on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rollin J. Bontrager, 20, of Kalona, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona for failure to appear for mittimus on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Cole Bryant Anderson, 20, of Richmond, was arrested Friday evening in the 200 block of Jefferson Street in Kalona for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bryan James Snavely, 30, of Center Point, was arrested Friday night at Highway 218 in Ainsworth for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.

Adisar DeJesus Perez-Rivas, 24, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning at Washington and Fourth Avenue in Washington for OWI and no driver’s license.

Michael Scott Feldpausch, 31, of Brighton, was arrested Saturday afternoon at First and Highway 92 in Ainsworth for driving while barred and speeding.

Lindsay Lea Schooley, 22, of Iowa City, was arrested Saturday night at Highway 218 and 150th in Riverside for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

Jeromy Matthew Greiner, 41, of Richland, was arrested Saturday night at Highway 1 and 78 in Brighton for OWI.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday morning at E Avenue and Sixth Street in Kalona. Officers, Kalona Fire and Kalona QRS responded. The vehicles were towed. Kimberly Sue Miller, 16, of Kalona, was cited for failure to yield while turning left.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday morning at Highway 1 in Brighton. The incident was documented.

A truck was reported on its side Sunday morning in the 2000 block of 290th Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner. The vehicle was towed.

 

Traffic other

Sharon Thornton, 40, of Washington, was cited Friday evening in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington for driving under suspension.

Jessica Dawn Wiseman, 25, of Washington, was cited Saturday afternoon at Main Street and Second Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension and failure to show proof of insurance.

Nicholas Loren Nichols, 31, of Washington, was cited Saturday afternoon in the 100 block of East Madison Street in Washington for driving under suspension.

A subject was reported driving at a high rate of speed Sunday afternoon at South 12th and East Van Buren in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Chelsea Dane Woods, 25, of Winfield, was cited Sunday afternoon at Highways 218 and 22 in Riverside for no driver’s license, improper registration and no proof of insurance.

 

Fire calls

A caller in the 600 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon that he thought his daughter’s bedroom was on fire. Washington Fire Department, officers and Washington County Ambulance responded.

A house fire was reported Saturday morning in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department, Ainsworth Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance and officers responded.

Illegal burning was reported Saturday night in the 400 block of East Van Buren in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

Possible drug activity was reported Sunday afternoon in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Burglary

The youth center in the 3100 block of Dogwood Avenue in Brighton was reportedly burglarized Friday night. Officers responded.

Someone reportedly tried to gain entrance to a residence in the 800 block of West Second Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Fraud

Saudia Watkins, 22, of Cedar Rapids, was cited Sunday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for unlawful use of a license.

An officer was requested Sunday evening in the 2500 block of 275th Street in Washington in reference to the caller’s ex-girlfriend using his debit card. The incident was documented.

 

All other thefts

A theft was reported Friday afternoon in the 100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. $250 of salvage material was reported stolen.

An officer was requested Friday afternoon in the 600 block of West Madison Street in Washington in reference to an identity theft. The incident was documented.

Money and medication were reported missing Friday afternoon in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported Sunday afternoon locating property in the back of a truck that had been reported stolen in Jefferson County. Officers returned the property to the owner.

Three subjects reportedly ate and left without paying Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

 

Intimidation/harassment

An intoxicated subject was reported Friday morning in the 500 block of Sixth Street in Ainsworth threatening some of the caller’s family members. Officers responded. The subjects were advised to have no further contact.

A caller in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon receiving text messages from an unknown number. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

An officer was requested Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of West Second Street in Washington in reference to ongoing harassment. Officers spoke with the caller.

A caller in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Wellman reported Saturday afternoon her ex-husband was harassing her. Officers spoke with both parties.

A caller in the 500 block of Highway 92 in West Chester reported Saturday evening her ex-boyfriend was harassing her. Officers spoke with the subject.

A caller reported she was threatened Sunday evening in the 400 block of West Seventh Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Wellman reported Sunday night that a subject had harassed and threatened her. Officers were advised.

 

Vandalism

Subjects reportedly threw trash all over the lower basketball court in Sunset Park in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Disorderly conduct

Subjects in the 500 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reportedly threw full beer cans at the caller’s truck and his friend’s car. Officers spoke with all parties. The subjects advised the caller and his friend sped past the residence and that was why they threw the cans. All subjects were advised to have no further contact.

A large party and a bonfire was reported Thursday night in the 3000 block of Coppock Road in Washington. The caller was concerned about all the beer cans and broken bottles in the roadway. Officers responded.

A disturbance involving several subjects was reported Sunday night in the 500 block of North Davis Street in Keota. Officers responded.

 

Intoxicated pedestrian

A subject was reported causing issues Friday night in the 100 block of East Second Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was given a ride to her residence.

 

Trespass

Someone reportedly drove through a cornfield in the 1000 block of Dogwood Avenue in Wellman Thursday afternoon. There was another truck that was there to help pull the first truck out of the sand prior to it driving through the field. Officers responded. Mitchell Douglas Barthelman, 22, of Kalona, was cited for trespass.

 

Liquor law violations

Cited Thursday morning at Kiwi and 335th in Brighton for possession of alcohol under legal age were: Morgan Cameron, 18; Brianna Salow, 19, of Washington; Jarek Brown, 15; Tristan Pohren, 17; and Matthew Grote, 18.

Cited Saturday night in the 1200 block of Redwood Avenue in Riverside for possession of alcohol under the legal age were: Tyler Owens, 18, of Ainsworth; Ladrew Albright, 18, of Wellman; Brendan Serum, 19, of Kalona; Colton Streeter, 18, of Crawfordsville; and Brody Barthelman, 20, of Kalona.

 

Animal complaints

A loose dog was reported Wednesday morning in the 1500 block of First Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

A barking dog was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

A barking dog was reported Friday morning in the 100 block of North Railroad Street in Ainsworth. The incident was documented.

A dog bite was reported Friday afternoon in the 600 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Horses and dogs were reported malnourished Friday evening in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth. Officers responded.

A barking dog was reported Friday evening in the 600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington Friday evening. Officers spoke with the owner.

A caller reported Sunday morning a small dog bit him in the 1400 block of Ridgeview Court in Washington. The incident was documented.

Subjects in the 2700 block of Coppock Road in Washington were reported shooting off large fireworks Wednesday evening. Officers spoke with the subjects.

Loud music was reported Friday morning at Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A subject was reported lighting off fireworks Saturday afternoon in the 1100 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Justus Young, 18, of North English, was cited Sunday morning in the 500 block of Third Street in Wellman for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

A subject was reported lighting off fireworks Sunday night in the 600 block of East Tyler Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Subjects were reported setting off firecrackers Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Wednesday evening he and a neighbor were having a dispute over a cage. Officers responded. It was a civil matter.

Someone was reported shooting off fireworks Wednesday night at South Fourth and East Van Buren in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A possible misuse of 911 was reported Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of South D Avenue in Washington. The subject was counseled.

An officer was requested Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington for jewelry items located in the street. Officers responded.

Fireworks were reported going off Thursday night in the 400 block of West Third Street in Washington. Officers were advised.

Subjects were reported shooting off fireworks Thursday night in the 600 block of A Avenue in Kalona. Officers spoke with the subjects.

A subject was reported stealing balls from other subjects Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. Charges will be filed.

A caller in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported Saturday afternoon two subjects had left in her van without her permission and wouldn’t answer her phone calls. Officers attempted to locate.

A bike was reported missing Sunday afternoon in the 900 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman. The incident was documented.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller reported Thursday night that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend would not let her in the residence in the 600 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman to get her keys and purse. Officers responded. The female subject gathered her things and left for the evening.

A 15-year-old subject was reported out of control Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of North Mechanic Street in Brighton. Officers responded.

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. A subject was trying to gain access to the building. Officers responded. The subject was there doing work.

An officer was requested Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington for check a suspicious haze. Officers responded.

Subjects with flashlights were reported around an RV Friday morning in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Suspicious activity was reported Sunday morning in the 3100 block of 116th Circle in Riverside. Officers responded. No problem.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 30 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported Saturday afternoon her estranged husband entered their home and took her cell phone. Officers spoke with the caller. It was a civil issue.
