Arrests

Benjamin James Curtis, 34, of Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 100 block of West Third Street in Washington for criminal mischief.

 

Traffic accidents

A single-vehicle rollover accident was reported Monday morning in the 1500 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. Officers, the Iowa State Patrol, Wellman Quick Responders, Wellman Fire, Washington County Rescue and Washington County Ambulance responded. The subject refused transport. The vehicle was towed.

 

Traffic other

A subject was reported laying on the side of the roadway Monday afternoon at Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Officers responded.

 

Fire calls

A fire alarm was reported going off Tuesday morning in the 800 block of West Monroe Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. The smoke was coming from burnt food.

 

Physical child abuse

A possible case of physical child abuse was reported Monday evening in the City of Washington. The incident is under investigation.

Assault

Two subjects were reported Monday afternoon in the 200 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington yelling and swearing. Officers responded. Verbal only.

A large fight was reported Monday afternoon in the 200 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington between three males and two females. Officers responded. Verbal only.

 

All other thefts

A caller reported Monday afternoon that her daughter’s wallet and cell phone were stolen in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported Monday morning a tenant was threatening him and others who were helping him clean out a trailer. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A possible assault was reported Monday night in the 100 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

A caller in the 1700 block of Highway 78 in Brighton reported Monday night that his ex-girlfriend’s son threatened him. The incident was documented.

A van was reported Monday night in the 1500 block of 180th Street in Wellman driving erratically. Officers spoke with both parties. Both parties had different versions of what happened. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Monday morning having a problem with her neighbor. She reported he had the hood of her car up and was messing around with it. Officers responded.

 

Trespass

A caller in the 200 block of South Benton Street in Brighton reported Monday morning his neighbor was constantly driving across his lawn and on his property. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

A subject was reported lighting off fireworks Saturday night in the 1100 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Justus Young, 18, of North English, was cited Sunday morning in the 500 block of Third Street in Wellman for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

A subject was reported lighting off fireworks Sunday night in the 600 block of East Tyler Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Children were reported being loud Monday night in the 300 block of West Third Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

Subjects were reported setting off firecrackers Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Wednesday evening he and a neighbor were having a dispute over a cage. Officers responded. It was a civil matter.

Someone was reported shooting off fireworks Wednesday night at South Fourth and East Van Buren in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A possible misuse of 911 was reported Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of South D Avenue in Washington. The subject was counseled.

An officer was requested Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington for jewelry items located in the street. Officers responded.

Fireworks were reported going off Thursday night in the 400 block of West Third Street in Washington. Officers were advised.

Subjects were reported shooting off fireworks Thursday night in the 600 block of A Avenue in Kalona. Officers spoke with the subjects.

A subject was reported stealing balls from other subjects Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. Charges will be filed.

A caller in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported Saturday afternoon two subjects had left in her van without her permission and wouldn’t answer her phone calls. Officers attempted to locate.

A bike was reported missing Sunday afternoon in the 900 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman. The incident was documented.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller reported Thursday night that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend would not let her in the residence in the 600 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman to get her keys and purse. Officers responded. The female subject gathered her things and left for the evening.

A 15-year-old subject was reported out of control Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of North Mechanic Street in Brighton. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. A subject was trying to gain access to the building. Officers responded. The subject was there doing work.

An officer was requested Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington for check a suspicious haze. Officers responded.

Subjects with flashlights were reported around an RV Friday morning in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Suspicious activity was reported Sunday morning in the 3100 block of 116th Circle in Riverside. Officers responded. No problem.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 30 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported Saturday afternoon her estranged husband entered their home and took her cell phone. Officers spoke with the caller. It was a civil issue.

An officer was requested Monday afternoon in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington in reference to a dispute with the caller’s neighbor. The neighbor was digging holes in the caller’s yard. Officers responded. Unfounded.

A caller in the 1000 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington reported Monday afternoon her neighbors were moving things onto her property and had taken a privacy sign. Officers responded.

 

Welfare check

A caller reported seeing two young subjects in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington who appeared to be unsupervised. One of the subjects nearly ran into the street. Officers were unable to locate.
