Arrests

Michael Lee Kurtz, 58, of South English, was arrested Wednesday morning at 220th Street and Highway 1 in Washington for OWI.

Amber Marie Sangalli, 34, of Kalona, was arrested Thursday morning at Riverside Road and 130th Street in Riverside for driving while barred and on a Johnson County warrant for failure to appear for trial on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Wednesday evening at Riverside Road and 170th Street in Riverside. Air bags deployed. One subject was reported with chest pain. Officers, Riverside Fire Department, Riverside QRS and Washington County Ambulance responded. One subject was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Garrett Dean Arnold of Riverside was cited for driving on the wrong side of the highway. Damage was over $1,500.

A caller reported Wednesday evening that he was stopped at a stop sign at Highways 1 and 92 in Washington and another vehicle bumped him from behind. Information was exchanged. The caller believed there was no damage to the vehicle.

 

Assault

A subject reportedly came into the emergency room in the 1000 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington after being assaulted. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

Drug activity was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented. Drug activity was later reported at the same location. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

A disturbance was reported Thursday morning in the 500 block of A Avenue in Kalona. Officers were advised. The homeowner called in and advised a deputy wasn’t needed due to the niece leaving the property for the evening.

 

Animal complaints

A loose dog was reported Wednesday morning in the 500 block of South C Avenue in Washington. Officers located the dog and it was aggressive. The dog was tasered and taken to the pound.

A white dog was reported running loose Wednesday afternoon at East Third Street and North 12th Avenue in Washington. Officers located the dog but could not catch it. The owner responded and picked up the dog. A verbal warning was given.

A terrier was reported loose Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A barking dog was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 1500 block of North Second Avenue in Washington.

 

DP&Q

Barking dogs were reported Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Washington Street in Ainsworth. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

All other offenses

Subjects were reported doing door-to-door sales Wednesday morning in the 400 block of North Main Street in Crawfordsville with no peddler permit. Officers responded. The subjects were at the location installing dish network. A verbal warning was given.

A caller in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported Wednesday evening that his wallet was on top of his car and he drove off. A driver’s license, credit card and $60 were in the wallet. The wallet was entered into the system.

A caller in the 100 block of Golf View Lane in Washington requested to speak with a deputy Wednesday evening in reference to an ongoing issue. Officers spoke with the caller and will attempt to contact suspects.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 300 block of Fourth Street in Wellman reported Wednesday morning that her ex-boyfriend had done damage and left the RV on foot. Officers counseled both parties and they separated.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 20 block of West River Street in Riverside reported Wednesday evening that a subject walked into her residence without permission. Officers responded. The incident was documented.
