Arrests

Devin Aaron Peck, 24, of Washington, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 700 block of East Fourth Street in Washington for violating a no-contact order, two counts of harassment and one count of threats.

William Nelson Turner, 50, of Gilman, was arrested Friday night at Elm Avenue and Highway 1 in Brighton for OWI and driving under bar.

Randy Vincent Rarick, 28, of Wayland, was arrested Friday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear for an initial appearance on driving under suspension.

Zachary William Rarick, 30, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning in the 700 block of East Main Street in Washington for assault and domestic abuse.

Tristan Thomas Noah Pohren, 18, of Washington, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton for possession of alcohol under legal age. Charges are pending lab results for possession of controlled substance marijuana.

Andrew Tyler Brock, 22, of Washington, was arrested Sunday morning in the 500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington for public intoxication.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle was reported in a ditch at Highway 1 and Ginkgo Avenue in Brighton. Amelia Kay Fladung, 18, of Wellman, was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and a verbal warning was given for failure to maintain control and no insurance.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday night at Vine Avenue and Highway 22 in Riverside.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. No injuries. Over $1,500 damage. Joann Reynolds of Washington was cited for unsafe backing.

 

Traffic other

A subject was reported riding a motorcycle up and down the street in the 300 block of East Madison Street in Washington at excessive speeds. Officers spoke with the driver.

A vehicle was reported in the ditch in the 3000 block of Coppock Road in Washington Sunday morning. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 60 block of Saint Mary’s Street in Riverside was unable to back out of his driveway due to people parking across the street. Officers responded.

An officer was requested Sunday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington in reference to another car’s door striking the caller’s vehicle.

Two vehicles were reported on a dirt road in the 2800 block of Redwood Avenue in Washington and was one possibly in a ditch. Officers responded. Two subjects were issued mud running warning letters and advised to leave their vehicles parked on the mud road and contact the engineer’s office Monday about having them removed.

Vehicles were reported mud running Sunday night on Juniper and 230th. Officers located the vehicle. A written warning was given.

 

Fire calls

Bales of hay were reported on fire in a trailer in the 5400 block of Kansas Avenue SW in Kalona. Kalona Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.

A gas smell was reported in a residence in the 2200 block of 250th Street in Washington Friday afternoon. Washington Fire Department and Alliant Energy responded.

A general fire alarm was reported Sunday morning in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department and officers responded.

A fire alarm was reported Monday morning in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington. Washington Fire Department responded. No fire.

 

Sexual assault

A caller in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported Sunday afternoon a male customer treated a female employee inappropriately. The incident is under investigation.

 

Physical child abuse

A possible case of physical child abuse was reported Sunday night in the 300 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Assault

Two subjects were reported possibly fighting Monday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers responded. No fight had occurred.

 

All other thefts

A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Brighton Friday morning.

A bicycle was reported stolen Friday afternoon in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

A cab driver reported Friday afternoon in the 200 block of Fifth Street in Wellman having a passenger who would not pay the fees or get out of the cab. The subject paid the cab fee and was returned to Iowa City.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $13.05 was reported Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington.

A boat motor was reported stolen Sunday evening in the 3200 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A caller in the 300 block of West Third Street in Washington reported Friday night that a subject threw a rock at her front door and ran off. Officers located two subjects involved. The parents were advised of the situation.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A subject reportedly threatened to harm employees in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside Friday night and was last seen heading for her car to get a weapon. Officers located the subject and counseled her.

A caller in the 900 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported Saturday evening that a subject was in their yard threatening them with a baseball bat. Officers responded. Verbal dispute over a kitten.

Four juveniles were reported antagonizing a subject at South Marion and West Washington in Washington Sunday morning and the subject was chasing them. Officers responded. The subject had already reported the juveniles to the adults in the church and they will handle the situation.

A caller in the 800 block of West Monroe Street in Washington reported Sunday night her ex-husband was harassing her and threatening her via phone calls. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Trespass

A caller in the 1500 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported Saturday evening her ex-husband was trespassing on her property. Officers spoke with the caller. Statements were forwarded to the county attorney for possible charges. The incident was documented.

 

Tobacco violations

Mitchell Dallas Hesseltine, 17, of Brighton, was cited Saturday night at South Mechanic Street and West Madison Street in Brighton for possession of tobacco under the legal age.

 

Animal complaints

A subject reportedly pulled off the road Friday afternoon at Redwood Avenue and Highway 92 in Washington and had a dog in the trunk. The caller reported he got a gas can out and shut the trunk with the dog inside. Officers responded. The back seats fold down and the dog was laying on a blanket with the air conditioning on. No problem.

A caller in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported Friday evening a dog came into their yard and started a fight with their dog. A warning citation was issued.

A dog was reported tied to a swing set Friday evening and it had been there all week without food or water. Officers responded and spoke with the owners.

 

DP&Q

A loud noise was reported Saturday evening in the 700 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman. Officers were advised.

Loud music was reported Sunday morning in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton. Officers responded and spoke with the subject in the apartment.

 

All other offenses

Subjects were reported in the 30 block of West First Street in Riverside Saturday morning arguing over keys and property. Officers responded.

An officer was requested Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of East 14th Street in Washington in reference to a possible situation that could occur. Officers responded. The caller was concerned about problems she had been having with her niece. The incident was documented.

A bike was found Saturday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington. It was taken to the bike shed.

Two subjects with backpacks and several dogs were reported in Central park in Washington Sunday night. Officers responded and advised the subjects the park was closed.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 500 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reported Sunday morning that her stepdaughter was back at her residence after she kicked her out a week ago. Officers responded. The subject agreed to leave.

 

Suspicious activity

Fireworks were reported going off Friday night in the 200 block of Highway 92 in West Chester. Officers were unable to locate.

A gator type vehicle was reported Sunday morning in a ditch in the 3200 block of Locust Avenue in Wayland that had been burned. Officers responded and were unable to retrieve identifying information. The incident was documented.

A caller at Poplar Boulevard and Nutmeg Avenue in Kalona reported Sunday afternoon that two vehicles had pulled into his driveway and sped away when they noticed the caller. Officers responded.

Two subjects were reported sleeping on picnic tables Sunday night in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects were advised to move on.

 

Runaway/missing person

A subject was reported missing from a residence in the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman Friday night.

 

Welfare check

A caller in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton requested assistance Friday morning attempting to contact her sister. Officers responded. The subject was entered as missing.

A welfare check was requested Saturday night on subjects in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. No problem.

A help light was reported on Sunday morning in the 700 block of C Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. The light was turned on by mistake.

A caller in the 200 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported Sunday morning having concerns about her ex-husband. Officers responded.
