Arrests

Jennifer Leanne Link, 29, of LaHarpe, Ill., was arrested Thursday evening at highway 218 and 305th Street in Crawfordsville for OWI, unlawful use of a driver’s license, no rear license plate, assault on a police officer and criminal mischief.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller reported Thursday morning that a car was apparently hit at C Avenue and Fifth Street in Kalona. A piece of bumper way lying on the ground. The vehicle had been reported the previous evening. The vehicle had been towed.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Thursday night in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The vehicle was drivable. Officers were advised.

 

Traffic other

A down power line was reported Thursday afternoon at Third Street and C Avenue in Kalona. Officers, Iowa State patrol and Alliant responded. The line was removed.

 

Fire calls

A fire alarm was reported Friday morning in the 1100 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. Officers, Washington County Ambulance and the Washington Fire Department responded. There was a fire in the furnace. It was extinguished.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 400 block of East Tyler Street in Washington reported Thursday morning that a resident suspected her son of financial exploitation. Officers spoke with the victim. Unfounded. All items were accounted for.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $62.35 was reported Thursday morning in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Jefferson County attempted to contact the registered owner. The subject later called the communications center and said he would take care of it. The business later reported it was taken care of.

Subjects in a vehicle reportedly took three orange cones from the 500 block of West Washington Street in Washington Thursday afternoon. The vehicle was located and the cones were retrieved.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 400 block of North Ella Street in Riverside reported Thursday morning a subject was continuing to call and harass him. The subject was attempting to speak with the caller’s daughter in reference to visitation arrangements with their child. He was given her correct phone number and advised to cease contacting the caller.

 

Animal complaints

A loose dog was reported in a yard in the 700 block of East Washington Street in Washington Thursday afternoon. Officers were unable to locate.

 

All other offenses

A possible scam was reported Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of Kiwi Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. The caller was advised to contact the Better Business Bureau. The incident was documented.

A possible violation of a no-contact order was reported Thursday evening in the 500 block of Ninth Street in Kalona. Officers spoke with both parties. No violation. The incident was documented.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 2300 block of Kiwi Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning that she had received packages in someone else’s name. Officers spoke with the caller, who is going to send the items back.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Thursday morning on a subject in the 400 block of West Fifth Street in Washington who had made comments about hurting himself. The subject was not home. Officers later contacted the subject and he was fine.

A caller in the 900 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reported Thursday afternoon that a neighbor had several small children outside while she was mowing the lawn. Officers spoke with the caller. She had stopped mowing and there was no problem.

A caller in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton reported Friday morning he was in a verbal argument with his girlfriend and she had left the residence. A welfare check was requested on her. Officers located the subject. She was fine and will head home for the evening.
