Traffic accidents

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Monday night at 140th Street and Highway 1 in Kalona. Over $1,500 damage was reported.

A caller reported hitting a deer Monday night at Highway 22 and Red Oak Avenue in Riverside. Over $1,500 damage was reported. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

A caller reported Monday afternoon that a truck was going northbound on Highway 22 at First Street in Kalona and a rock flew out of the truck and broke the caller’s windshield.

A vehicle was reported driving at a high rate of speed at Highway 218 in Riverside Monday afternoon and following too closely. Officers spoke with the registered owner and the vehicle had been sold several years ago. The incident was documented.

A subject was reported riding a motorized scooter in the alley in the 400 block of East Seventh Street in Washington Monday afternoon. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Drug/narcotics violations

Possible drug activity was reported Monday morning in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Burglary

A house in the 1100 block of Tulip Drive in Riverside was reported broken into Monday morning and items were missing. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

 

Fraud

A caller in the 1600 block of Orange Avenue in Kalona reported a scam from a painting company Monday afternoon. The subjects had quoted the caller $1,700 to paint grain bins and the bill was for $3,000. Officers responded. The incident was documented. It was a civil dispute. No contract was involved.

 

Stolen property

A caller on Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported Monday afternoon renters had taken the stove, refrigerator and outlet for the stove when they moved out. The caller will try to work it out with the tenant, as he still has their deposit check. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A vehicle was reported vandalized Monday afternoon in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and took pictures of the vandalism. Officers had witnessed two subjects writing on the car. Officers located the subjects, counseled them and took possession of window paint.

A car was reported keyed Monday afternoon in the 300 block of East Hickory Street in Riverside. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 800 block of South D Avenue in Washington reported Monday morning that the neighbor was threatening to shoot her dog because it wanders onto his property. Officers spoke with the caller’s son, who is responsible for the dogs. A verbal warning was given for allowing a dog to run at large. Officers also spoke with the neighbor and advised him to call the police of there is a problem with the dog.

A caller in the 700 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported Monday evening a juvenile had been calling her daughter names and tried to run her over with his bike. Information will be forwarded to juvenile probation for possible charges.

 

Liquor law violations

A subject reportedly entered a store in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington Friday afternoon, paid for an alcoholic drink and then went into the bathroom and mixed it with some pop. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Disorderly conduct

An officer reported Saturday night being out with a vehicle after receiving a report of an altercation. Officers spoke with all subjects involved. No altercation occurred and no injuries were noticed.

A caller in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported Saturday night that her neighbor banged on her door in the middle of the night. Officers spoke with both subjects.

A caller in the 200 block of East Third Street in Washington reported Sunday evening that her fiancé was fighting with his brother in the street. Officers responded. The parties were separated. The incident was documented.

 

Animal complaints

A bat was reported in a building in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington Friday morning. The bat was removed.

A bat was reported in a residence in the 900 block of East Third Street in Washington Sunday morning. Officers responded.

Subjects in the 500 block of North D Avenue in Washington reportedly have a puppy tied outside all day, a caller reported. Officers spoke with the dog owner. The owner was made aware of the leash laws.

A bat was reported in a residence in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue in Ainsworth Monday afternoon. Officers advised environmental health who responded and removed the animal.

A dog was reported whining Monday afternoon at East Van Buren Street and South Sixth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A dog bite was reported Monday evening in the 1000 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

A bat was reported in a residence in the 400 block of West Madison Street in Washington Monday night.

A bat was reported Tuesday morning in an apartment in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 200 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported Tuesday morning needing assistance with a bat in the residence. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported at a residence in the 1300 block of Deer Run Drive in Riverside. Officers responded. The music was turned down on arrival.

Loud music and an infant crying were reported Friday night in the 300 block of East Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Saturday morning coming from a residence in the 200 block of West Main Street in Brighton. The incident was documented.

Loud music was reported Saturday night in the 500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. Officers responded. The music was excessively loud.

Loud music was reported Monday evening at West Fountain Street and North Harrison Street in Brighton. Officers were unable to locate.

Fireworks were reported going off Monday evening in the 1000 block of East Third Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

 

All other offenses

A caller in the 500 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported Friday night that his wife left with several subjects. Officers attempted to locate.

A subject was reported in the 1100 block of Enterprise Drive in Riverside Saturday morning asking customers for gas money. Officers responded.

A subject was reported Saturday evening in the 2200 block of 250th Street in Washington who was making a mess and wouldn’t leave. Officers responded.

An unruly customer was reported Monday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington.

 

Family offense non violent

A subject was reported breaking things with a baseball bat Sunday morning in the 2200 block of Yucca Avenue in Ainsworth. Officers responded. Charges are pending.

A caller in the 600 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported Monday afternoon her ex-boyfriend was on his bike circling her house. In the past he had threatened to break into her house.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon that a subject had come to the back door and looked inside their garage. Officers spoke with the subject who was inquiring about purchasing an old truck. No problem.

A vehicle’s door was reported open Friday night in the 700 block of South Sixth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

Subjects in a vehicle that had been involved in suspicious activity were reported in the 2400 block of Palm Avenue in Washington Saturday morning. Officers responded and counseled the subjects.

A van reportedly pulled out from behind some hog buildings and ran the caller’s daughter off the roadway Saturday night in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller in the 600 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported Saturday night that her 16-year-old brother did not come home and would not answer his cell. The juvenile was located and returned home.

 

Welfare check

An emergency key press was reported Saturday afternoon from an Onstar device in the 2500 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Officers responded. Kids had been playing with buttons in the car.

A caller reported Saturday afternoon that a subject was walking along Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. She was in a semi truck with her husband and child. They got into an argument and the husband pulled her out. Contact was made with the husband who was in Canton, Mo. He will pick his wife up at a weigh station.

A young boy was reported sitting in the 400 block of West Main Street in Washington Sunday night. Officers were unable to locate.

A welfare check was requested Monday afternoon on a subject in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona who was a possible victim of elder abuse. Officers responded. It was a civil issue over monetary distribution. Officers will follow up with the home health nurse. The subject appeared in great health.

A welfare check was requested Tuesday morning on a subject in the 400 block of Pleasantview Circle in Kalona. Officers spoke with the subject.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 700 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Monday afternoon that the landlord was trying to evict the caller without proper paperwork or notice. Officers spoke with all parties. The landlord wanted to start painting and the renter agreed.
