Arrests

Jeremy Carl Murray, 37, of Dysart, was arrested Thursday evening in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for failure to appear for a contempt hearing on an original charge of driving while barred.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller in the 1600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning that his mailbox was hit, along with the neighbor’s mailbox and the 911 signs. The subject who damaged the mailbox contacted the caller and will pay restitution. The incident was documented.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Thursday morning at Seventh Street and E Avenue in Kalona. Subjects exchanged information. The incident was documented.

A semi reportedly ran into the side of a business in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. No injuries. Insurance information was exchanged. Over $1,500 damage was reported.

A vehicle vs. mailbox accident was reported Thursday afternoon in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth. The subject had swerved to miss a deer. Information was exchanged.

 

Motor vehicle thefts

A caller in the 2700 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported Thursday morning a subject was to deliver a semi belonging to a business in Texas and that the subject was refusing to return it, and was possibly in New Mexico. Officers spoke with both parties. There was a dispute over ownership. It was a civil matter.

 

Assault

A caller in the 100 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported Thursday afternoon he “ex” assaulted her. Officers responded. Charges are pending per the county attorney. The subject was advised to have no further contact with the caller and to no longer return property.

 

Fraud

A caller in the 200 block of Fifth Street in Kalona reportedly received a call Thursday afternoon from what he thought was Alliant Energy and made a payment. It was a fraud call and the caller was out the money.

 

Stolen property

A vehicle was reported missing from a business in the 200 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman Thursday afternoon and it had been gone about two weeks. The vehicle was listed as stolen.

 

Vandalism

A mailbox was reported on the ground Thursday morning in the 1100 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington. It was reportedly damaged some time after midnight. City maintenance will contact the caller.

 

Intimidation/harassment

An officer was requested Thursday afternoon in the 800 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington regarding harassment. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to have no further contact.

A caller in the 1000 block of Second Street in Wellman reported Thursday evening that her ex-fiance had been harassing her via phone and text messages. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to have no further contact.

 

Disabled vehicles

A vehicle was reported blocking a walkway to an apartment building in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Washington Thursday afternoon. Officers made contact with the owner’s roommate, who will have the vehicle removed.

 

Animal complaints

An injured deer was reported Thursday evening in the 1100 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded. The deer was removed.

 

Public service contact

An officer reported Thursday afternoon being at a residence in the 1700 block of Highway 78 in Brighton to assist DHS with a home check. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 1400 block of Highway 218 in Riverside reported Thursday night that a vehicle had been following them for a long distance and would not stop. Officers located the caller but were unable to locate the truck. Officers escorted the caller to the destination.

Suspicious activity was reported Friday morning in the 100 block of West Vine Street in Crawfordsville. Someone had been carrying tires to a vehicle. Officers responded.
