Arrests

Vassil Boykov Kakaradov, 26, of Omaha, Neb., was arrested Friday morning at 140th Street and Highway 1 in Kalona for driving under the influence.

Cale Bruce Wells-Mangold, 30, of Washington, was arrested Saturday morning in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington for public intoxication.

Daniel Thomas Reese, 27, of Fenton, Mo., was arrested Sunday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for aggravated domestic abuse assault, two counts of serious assault, public intoxication and interference with official acts.

Daniel Joseph Gonterman, 36, was arrested Sunday morning in the 300 block of West Second Street in Ottumwa on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for show cause on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

David Alleyin Hudson, 18, of Brighton, was arrested Sunday morning in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton for serious assault.

 

Charges filed

Charges were filed May 7 on Douglas Michael Denny, 13, of Washington for arson. Another charge of theft was filed Friday.

 

Traffic accidents

A subject reportedly came into the emergency room in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington Saturday morning to report a vehicle struck him the previous night while he was riding his bicycle.

A caller in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona reported Saturday morning that he struck a raccoon the previous night and there was damage to his vehicle.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday night at Highway 92 and Juniper Avenue in West Chester. Officers were advised.

 

Traffic stop serious

Aaron Allen Jarvis, 36, of Marion, was cited Sunday evening at Highway 92 and Spruce Avenue in Washington for driving under suspension.

 

Traffic other

Subjects were reported in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington Saturday afternoon riding 4-wheelers in the street with kids on them. Subjects were riding in the yard on arrival. They were made aware of the complaint.

A caller in the 70 block of West First Street in Riverside reported Saturday afternoon that her vehicle was struck Officers responded and spoke with all parties. The incident was documented.

An officer reported Sunday morning being with a vehicle in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington.

An officer reported Sunday morning being out with a vehicle in the 2500 block of 305th Street in Washington. The subject was camping.

 

Fire calls

A Kalona tanker was requested Saturday afternoon to assist with a house fire in the 3000 block of Highway 1 SW in Iowa City. Riverside Fire was also requested for mutual aid.

A field fire was reported Saturday afternoon in the 2500 block of 500th Street SW in Kalona. Kalona Fire Department responded.

 

Sex offender

A sex offender was reported registered Sunday evening in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside.

 

Assault

A subject was reported assaulted Friday evening in the 600 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

A caller reported Saturday morning that four subjects assaulted him in the 500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

 

Weapon violation

A subject was reported shooting a BB gun in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington Sunday morning. Officers spoke with the subject, who had been shooting at a tree.

 

Burglary

A break-in was reported Friday morning at a business in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

 

Fraud

A subject was reported Sunday night with a fake ID in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers responded.

 

All other thefts

A gas drive-off in the amount of $45.02 was reported Sunday morning in the 300 block of First Street in Kalona.

 

Vandalism

A caller reported Friday afternoon the neighbors had been using the driveway of his rental property in the 80 block of North Washington Street in Riverside and had damaged the down spout. Officers left a message for the caller. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 700 block of 11th Street in Wellman reported Friday evening that a subject was harassing her over a previous situation. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 300 block of East Main Street in Brighton reported Friday night that a subject made threats toward her and others on Facebook. Officers spoke with the caller.

A caller in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Brighton reported Friday night his sister harassed and threatened him. Officers were advised. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Kalona reported Sunday afternoon a subject was harassing him. Officers spoke with all parties.

 

Trespass

A teacher reported Saturday night being at the school in the 200 block of Schnoebelen Street in Riverside and subjects were knocking on the window. Officers responded.

A caller in the 800 block of 11th Street in Kalona reported Saturday night that subjects were ringing her doorbell and when she answered no one was there. Officers responded.

 

Illegal dumping

A caller in the 1000 block of West Monroe Street in Washington reported Friday morning someone dumped trash in one of the wash bins. Officers responded and attempted to locate the subject.

 

Animal complaints

A barking dog was reported Saturday night in the 800 block of 10th Street in Kalona. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

Several subjects were reported on the front porch of a residence in the 900 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington singing loudly Friday night. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

A student in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon receiving inappropriate pictures on her cell phone. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

An officer was requested Friday afternoon in the 2500 block of Sockum Ridge Road in Washington in reference to a phone scam. Officers spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 600 block of Sixth Street in Wellman reported Friday evening that his son was shot with a BB gun. Officers responded. DHS was advised.

Blake Alan Ossman of Riverside was cited Friday evening in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

A caller in the 500 block of Sixth Street in Wellman reported Saturday morning that an ex-boyfriend wanted his property back and the caller no longer had it. Officers spoke with the caller.

A caller in the 500 block of 11th Street in Kalona reported Saturday night a subject would not let her leave her residence. Officers responded. Subject left prior to deputy’s arrival.

 

Family offense non violent

Charges were filed Saturday evening in the 2300 block of Akelana Drive in Kalona on Dennis James Lloyd, 53, of Kalona, for possession of drug paraphernalia.

A custody issue was reported Saturday night in the 400 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller at North Jefferson Street and East Fountain Street in Brighton requested Friday night to speak with a deputy regarding suspicious activity. Officers responded.

A caller in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a disgruntled former employee had urinated on the building and they would like to have him charged. Officers responded. No evidence. The subject was banned from the property.

 

Public service contact

A caller reported Sunday evening being unable to get a vehicle out of the automatic car wash in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. They were able to get the vehicle out.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Saturday night on a subject in the 500 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was fine.

A welfare check was requested Sunday morning on a subject in the 500 block of South Mechanic Street in Brighton. The caller later received a text message from the subject.
