Traffic accidents

A car vs. bus accident was reported Tuesday morning at east Monroe and South Third Avenue in Washington. Washington County Ambulance, Washington County Rescue and officers responded. Amy DeWolf of Washington was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield right of way. Over $1,500 damage was reported.

A vehicle was reported struck Tuesday morning in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

A caller reported Tuesday morning that on May 20 another vehicle hit his Toyota Prius in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona. The incident was documented.

An accident was reported Tuesday afternoon at Highway 92 and Redwood Avenue in Washington. The caller reportedly hit the back end of a vehicle in front of her. Officers responded. Lisa Cavin of Ainsworth was cited for following too closely.

 

Traffic other

A caller reported Tuesday afternoon driving and almost getting hit at West Monroe and South D due to a trailer parked in front of the stop sign. The trailer was parked there for over a month.

 

Forgery

A caller in the 2500 block of Sockum Ridge Road in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon that an alarm company had come to her ex-husband’s residence and he signed her name on the agreement. She is now getting billed. A copy of the complaint was faxed to the company. The incident was documented.

 

Stolen property

A stolen bicycle was reported Saturday evening in the 300 block of West Third Street in Washington. Officers responded. It was returned to the owner.

A stolen vehicle was reported located Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of First Street SW in Cedar Rapids. Officers were advised.

 

All other thefts

A subject reportedly left a store in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside without paying for cigarettes. The incident was documented.

A tool chest and tools were reported taken Friday afternoon in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. A report will be filed.

A subject reportedly stole a phone Saturday evening in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington and left. A report will be filed.

A cell phone that was reported stolen in Altoona was reported locating in the 600 block of South B Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and seized the phone.

A caller reported Tuesday afternoon that bronze flag holders were taken from two gravesites in the 2100 block of Hemlock Avenue in West Chester. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller reported Saturday afternoon that subjects were harassing her husband and baby in the 1000 block of East Third Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 300 block of Center Street in West Chester reported Sunday morning he felt as if he was being harassed for no reason. The caller wasn’t able to do things around his property without someone complaining. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

A couple was reported fighting Friday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Officers responded. The parties were separated for the night.

A large group of subjects was reported yelling and arguing Saturday evening at West Jefferson and South D Avenue in Washington. The subjects were asked to move along.

A fight was reported in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the subjects. Nothing physical. The parties were separated.

Several people were reported in the 900 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington Monday night yelling obscenities. Officers responded.

A subject was reported threatening people Tuesday morning in the 900 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Trespass

A caller in the 100 block of West Third Street in Washington reported Friday evening two subjects were on his property and would not leave. Officers responded.

Subjects were reported grilling on the caller’s property Monday evening at East Adams Street and South 12th Avenue in Washington. Offices responded.

 

Weapon violation

A subject was reported Monday afternoon in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington with a gun tucked in his beltline. Officers responded. The subject had a valid permit to carry concealed.

 

Liquor law violation

Officers reportedly spoke with a subject in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington Monday afternoon and made him aware of laws against consuming alcohol in a public park.

 

Tobacco violations

Cited Friday afternoon in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington for possession of tobacco under the legal age were: Kati Lee Faupel, 17, of Washington; and Joshua David Bennett, 16, of Washington.

 

Animal complaints

Horses were reported out Monday morning in the 2200 block of 250th Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A bat was reported in an apartment in the 300 block of East Second Street in Washington Monday morning. Officers responded.

A large dog that appeared to be hit by a car was reported Monday afternoon in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Officers responded and removed a raccoon.

A caller in the 2300 block of 150th Street in Kalona reported Tuesday morning about 40 cows were in his yard and denting up his cars. Officers responded. The livestock owner will pay for the damages.

A rabbit was reported in the 700 block of West Madison Street in Washington without adequate shelter. Officers responded. There was no problem.

A bat was reported in an apartment in the 900 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and assisted.

 

Barking dog

Two barking dogs were reported Sunday morning in the 100 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. Officers responded and did not hear anything.

Loud music was reported Saturday morning in the 200 block of East Third Street in Riverside. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Saturday evening in the 1300 block of North Third Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A large party was reported Saturday night in the 1300 block of North Third Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported coming from a party in the 1200 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded.

Fireworks were reported being set off Saturday night in the 1000 block of East Third Street in Washington.

A subject was reported running a chainsaw Sunday morning in the 300 block of Center Street in West Chester. Officers responded.

Firecrackers were reported going off Sunday morning in the 1000 block of East Third Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Loud music was reported coming from the 400 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington Sunday night. Officers responded.

Fireworks were reported Sunday night in the 1000 block of Circle Drive in Wellman. Subjects were given a verbal warning.

A loud party was reported Monday morning in the 1000 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A loud noise was reported Monday morning in the 400 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A possible fight was reported Monday night in the 2900 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Officers responded.

Several juveniles were reported being loud Tuesday night in the 500 block of North C Avenue in Washington. The juvenile subjects also called to report several subjects at the residence had threatened them with baseball bats. Officers responded and spoke with all parties.

 

All other offenses

An item was reported located Friday morning in the 1100 block of East Adams Street in Washington. The item was entered as recovered.

An underage party was reported Sunday morning in the 600 block of West Fifth Street in Washington. Officers were unable to locate anything.

A caller in the 600 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported Sunday morning that a bike had been left in her yard. Officers responded and took the bike to the bike shed.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $50 was reported Monday afternoon in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A subject reportedly threw a brick at the caller’s dog Monday afternoon in the 500 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 200 block of North 14th Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday afternoon a subject drove through his front yard. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 800 block of South D Avenue in Washington reported Sunday morning having a verbal argument with her daughter. Officers responded.

An officer was requested Monday evening in the 300 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington for a possible family offense.

 

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity with several juveniles was reported Saturday morning at Highway 22 and Kiwi Avenue in Kalona. Officers were unable to locate.

Two subjects were reported lying in the roadway in the 2700 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

Subjects were reported at J Place and 14th Street in Kalona burning Saturday night and smoke was coming into the caller’s residence. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller in the 1100 block of Larch Avenue in Kalona reported Saturday night coming home to find another noose hanging on a limb above his car.

A suspicious vehicle was reported Monday afternoon in the 200 block of East Third Street in Riverside. Officers responded.

Three subjects were reported at East Railroad Street and South Liberty Street in Brighton Tuesday morning going through property. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Civil dispute

A civil dispute over a vehicle was reported Sunday morning in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington. Officers responded. The caller was allowed to retrieve her vehicle.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Friday afternoon on a subject in the 1400 block of Willow Brooke Lane in Riverside. Officers responded.

A subject reportedly got one child out of a car in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington Sunday afternoon but still had two children sleeping inside. Officers spoke with the owner. No problem.

A welfare check was requested Tuesday afternoon on a subject in the 1000 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. Contact was made. No problem.

 

Runaway/missing persons

A caller in the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman reported Friday evening that her 15-year-old daughter ran away after stealing money. Officers responded. The subject was located and returned home.

 

Public service contact

A student was reported Tuesday morning in the 1100 block of East Third Street in Washington refusing to come to school. Officers responded. No one would answer the door. The school was notified. The student’s aunt later brought her to school.
