Arrests

Ryan James Neveau, 22, homeless, was arrested Wednesday evening in Central park in Washington on a warrant for probation violation on a charge of possession of marijuana.

Jimmie Lee Stringer III, 21, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday evening at Sunset Park in Washington for failure to appear for sentencing on assault.

Michelle Marie Shelman, 35, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 800 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington for domestic abuse assault with injury.

Alexander Ross, 24, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday for third-degree harassment.

 

Charges filed

Keith Allen Duckett, 16, of Brighton, was charged Wednesday evening in Central Park in Washington with disorderly conduct.

 

Fire calls

Kalona Fire was dispatched Wednesday afternoon in the 5600 block of SW Sharon Center Road in Kalona after dispatch received report of an explosion from a shed. The fire was extinguished.

 

Sexual child abuse

A possible case of sexual child abuse was reported Wednesday morning in the City of Washington. The incident is under investigation.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller in the 300 block of East Fifth Street in Washington reported Wednesday evening that a juvenile was in his garage smoking marijuana. Officers contacted the juvenile who denied smoking marijuana. The subject was advised not to return to the property or he would be charged with trespass.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A subject was reported at Madison and Harrison in Brighton walking by the caller’s residence and harassing her two children. Officers contacted the subject and told him to have no further contact.

 

Trespass

Juveniles were reported in a yard in the 900 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The juveniles were gone on arrival.

 

Curfew/loitering/vagrancy

An officer reported Thursday morning being out with three subjects in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. A curfew citation was issued to Andrew Payne of Washington. Two curfew warnings were given.

 

Animal complaints

Two loose dogs were reported Wednesday morning at East Tyler and Paradise Drive in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A three-foot snake was reported Wednesday afternoon on the patio at a residence in the 800 block of West Monroe Street in Washington. Officers responded and released the snake into the woods.

A bat was reported in a residence in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

A suspicious subject was reported loitering in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Kalona all Wednesday morning. Officers were advised.

A caller in the 200 block of 10th Avenue in Wellman reported Thursday morning someone had tried to gain access to her residence. Officers responded.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller in the 200 block of East Madison Street in Brighton reported Wednesday afternoon that a 13-year-old subject had not gotten off the bus after school. Officers responded. The subject was located.

 

Welfare check

Officers were requested Wednesday morning in the 400 Lincoln Street in Ainsworth. A caller reported while on the phone with her sister-in-law she could hear the 17-year-old son-in-law yelling and threatening her. Officers and the Iowa State patrol responded. The male subject was found breaking things inside the residence. The Iowa State Patrol performed a breath test, which read .132. The subject admitted to drinking alcohol and agreed to seek treatment.
