Adam Richard Hotchkiss, 31, of Wayland, was arrested Thursday morning in the 200 block of North Mechanic Street in Brighton for possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Zachary Raymond Job, 19, of Washington, was arrested Thursday morning in the 500 block of South Seventh and East Adams Street in Washington for OWI, striking an unattended vehicle, failure to maintain control, interference with official acts, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A charge of assault was filed Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton on Aaron Lucas Williams, 13, of Brighton.
A hit and run accident was reported Thursday morning at South Fourth and East Jefferson in Washington. Over $1,500 damage was reported. Officers looked for a suspect vehicle.
A two-vehicle accident was reported Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of East Madison Street in Washington. Stacy Peterson of Crawfordsville was cited for following too closely.
A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Thursday evening at Highway 218 and 170th Street in Riverside. The vehicle was not drivable. Officers responded. A deer tag was issued. The incident was documented.
A caller reported hitting a horse Friday morning in the 1300 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. The horse ran off into a barnyard. The caller was not injured. Officers responded. Under $1,500 damage was reported.
A vehicle was reported driving at excessive speeds Thursday evening in the 700 block of Fifth Street in Kalona. Officers were unable to locate.
A caller reported Thursday morning that he was driving northbound on Highway 218 at Highway 22 in Riverside and saw a semi with an attached trailer on fire. The vehicle was stopped. Riverside Fire Department responded.
A fire alarm was reported Thursday afternoon in the 2700 block of Coppock Road in Washington. Washington Fire Department and the homeowner responded. No fire was found.
A caller in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning his 17-year-old nephew was out of control and hitting him. Officers responded. Information will be forwarded to juvenile probation.
The side window of a vehicle was reported smashed in Thursday morning in the 500 block of 11th Street in Kalona and a wallet and cigarettes were taken. Officers responded.
A window of a vehicle was reported broken out Thursday morning in the 400 block of C Avenue in Kalona and the vehicle was gone through. Officers responded.
A window was reported broken on a vehicle in the 300 block of A Avenue in Kalona Thursday morning and items were taken. Officers responded.
All other thefts
The theft of cigarettes was reported caught on video Thursday morning in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The subject was no longer in the store. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.
A juvenile was reported Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington with a Nintendo DS that was stolen from Walmart. Officers responded. The juvenile was turned over to his mother. The incident is under investigation.
A barking dog that was tied out in the rain was reported Thursday morning in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton. Officers spoke with the owner. A verbal warning was given.
An officer reported Thursday morning helping a subject on Highway 22 in Kalona who lost five cattle from his trailer. The cows were running down the highway and into yards. Kalona Fire and officers were dispatched. The cattle were located.
A barking dog was reported Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of Washington Street in Ainsworth. Officers spoke with the owner.
A possible case of animal neglect was reported Thursday afternoon in the 2700 block of East Fern Cliff Road in Washington. Officers responded. County attorney advised no charges.
Family offense non violent
A caller in the 300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported Thursday evening having some issues with her 14-year-old daughter. Officers responded.
A caller in the 900 block of East Third Street in Washington reported Friday morning her 14-year-old daughter hadn’t come home after helping with Halloween activities. Officers responded. The subject was entered into the system.
A caller in the 400 block of East Harrison Street in Washington reported Thursday night that someone attempted to open her garage door. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate.
A car alarm was reported Friday morning in the 100 block of South B Avenue in Washington. The caller reported a neighbor saw a subject running down the street. Officers were unable to locate anyone.
A subject with several small children was reported in a business in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington Thursday afternoon and they didn’t appear dressed for the weather. Officers responded and followed the subject to a residence. The children seemed fine.
A welfare check was requested Thursday night on a subject in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington. The caller was speaking to the subject on the phone and the subject was arguing with a neighbor. Officers responded. No problem.
