Arrests

Terrance DeShaun Allen, 34, of Waterloo, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington on a warrant for violation of pretrial release restrictions on possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Allen was later arrested Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for probation violation.

Adam Duane Haifley, 22, of Ainsworth, was arrested Saturday morning in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington for operating while intoxicated.

Jesse James Carter, 41, of Kalona, was arrested Saturday morning in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington for public intoxication.

Oscar Alberto Velasco Munguia, 20, of Washington, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington for probation violation on burglary.

Shane Stephen Higdon, 39, of Fairfield, was arrested Saturday evening at Pleasant Plain Road 1 and 78 in Brighton for OWI.

Daniel Mark Tallman, 28, of North Liberty, was arrested Sunday evening in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for operating while intoxicated failure and open container.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday afternoon in the 1800 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Iowa State Patrol responded.

A caller reported Friday afternoon that an injured deer was on Highway 218 and 160th Street in Riverside. The caller later reported that a vehicle had hit the deer. Officers responded. The vehicle was towed.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday evening in the 3100 block of Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday evening in the 1400 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A caller reported striking a deer Saturday morning at Vine Avenue and 140th Street in Riverside. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A vehicle vs. dog accident was reported Saturday evening at Highway 1 and 140th Street in Kalona.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Sunday morning at Highway 1 and Angle Road in Kalona. Kalona QRS and Fire responded.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday evening in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers responded.

A two-vehicle head-on accident was reported Sunday evening in the 3000 block of Wayland Road in Wayland. Officers, Iowa State Patrol, Washington Fire, Washington Rescue and Washington County Ambulance responded. Four subjects were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The vehicles were towed. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident.

 

Intoxicated driver

A possibly intoxicated driver was reported Friday night in the 1700 block of Highway 92 in West Chester. The caller reported the vehicle had crossed the centerline and was fluctuating speed. Officers stopped the vehicle potpourri was confiscated.

 

Disabled vehicle

A vehicle was reported parked in the 600 block of West Second Street in Washington Saturday morning and it had been there for three days without moving. Officers responded.

 

Traffic other

A motorcycle with no muffler was reported driving erratically Sunday afternoon. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Fire calls

A controlled burn reportedly got out of control Saturday afternoon in the 1000 block of Ivy Avenue in Kalona. Kalona Fire Department responded.

A subject was reported burning leaves Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject was given a copy of the ordinance and put out the fire.

A brush fire was reported Sunday morning in the 3000 block of Old Captain’s Road in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department responded. The fire did damage to a neighboring property. Information will be exchanged.

A tree fire was reported Sunday evening in the 400 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman. Wellman Fire Department responded.

 

Weapon violation

An officer was requested Friday afternoon in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington in reference to a student bringing a knife to school. Officers responded. It was a policy issue and there was nothing illegal. The incident was documented.

 

Drug/narcotics violations

Suspicious activity was reported in Washington County Friday afternoon. The incident is under investigation.

 

All other thefts

$600 was reported missing from a locked filing cabinet in the 700 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Someone reportedly jimmied the lock and it would not close properly. Officers responded.

A purse was reported stolen out of a shopping cart Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of South Highway 1 in Washington. Officers responded.

About $130 was reported missing from a cash register in the 100 block of East Second Street in Washington Sunday morning. Officers responded.

A caller in the 1800 bloc of 290th Street in Washington reported Sunday afternoon that subjects were on his property the previous night and took his trailcam. The caller requested to file charges on two juveniles. Officers responded. Deputies spoke with all parties. The father of the juveniles will handle the situation.

Subjects were reported stealing firewood from a neighboring field in the 3200 block of 170th Street in Riverside. Officers responded. They were family members and had permission to be there. No problem.

Two ladders were reported missing Sunday night in the 1100 block of Red oak Avenue in Riverside. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A mailbox was reported vandalized Saturday morning in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

About four juveniles were reported breaking the window out of a bus Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of North 12th Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented. Officers are waiting to speak with someone from the county regarding charges.

 

Intimidation/harassment

Harassment was reported Friday evening in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

A deputy was requested in the 400 block of North Ella Street in Riverside in reference to harassing phone calls. Officers spoke with both parties.

A caller in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington reported Saturday afternoon being harassed by a subject who had driven past her house twice. The subject reportedly slowed down and looked toward the house each time. Harassment was unfounded. No actual contact was made.

A caller in the City of Washington reported Saturday evening that subjects were harassing him.

A caller in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported Saturday evening being harassed by an ex-girlfriend over property. Officers spoke with both parties.

Subjects were reported parked in the 500 block of West Main Street in Washington Sunday night and they had been there a while. Officers responded. The subjects moved on. The incident was documented.

 

Disorderly conduct

A subject was reported out of control Saturday afternoon in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subject calmed down and was made aware of the consequences if this happens again.

 

Animal complaints

A dog was reported running loose in the 400 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington Friday afternoon. Officers responded. The dogcatcher picked up the animal.

Barking dogs were reported Sunday morning in the 500 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

Subjects were reported burning tires, PVC pipe and insulation Friday afternoon in the 3000 block of Kiwi Avenue in Brighton. The DNR was contacted and will handle the complaint.

Loud music was reported Sunday morning in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

An abandoned bicycle was reported Sunday morning in the 1400 block of East Washington Street in Washington. It was taken to the bike shed.

A caller in the 1000 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported Sunday afternoon the neighbor was burning leaves that were actually on her property. The caller had asked the subject to quit and she refused. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

 

Family offense non violent

A possible domestic dispute was reported Saturday evening in the 300 block of North B Avenue in Washington. Verbal only.

A deputy was requested Monday morning in the 400 block of E Avenue in Kalona in reference to the caller’s fiancé being intoxicated and making threats. Officers responded. The male subject had a self-inflicted hand injury. The subjects agreed to go to bed for the night.

 

Suspicious activity

Two subjects were reportedly trying to use bolt cutters on a padlock Friday morning in the 300 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and contacted the property owner. No problem.

A half a cord of wood was reported stolen Friday afternoon in the 400 block of West Main Street in Washington. Someone had also thrown old shingles in the caller’s trashcan. The incident was documented.

Suspicious activity in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington was reported Friday afternoon. The incident is under investigation.

A vehicle was reported parked in the 2300 block of 150th Street in Kalona. The caller later advised the vehicle was with a party in the area and had left. Officers attempted to contact the subject having the party. The incident was documented.

A subject in the 1400 block of North Sixth Avenue in Wellman reported hearing strange noises Saturday evening. Officers were unable to locate.

A caller in the 1400 block of North Sixth Avenue in Wellman reported hearing pounding Saturday evening. Officers responded. The noise appeared to be coming from fireworks.

 

Runaway/missing person

A small toddler was reported in his pajamas walking around on the sidewalk in the 400 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The child was brought to the Communications Center. The mother picked up the child. DHS was contacted.

 

Welfare check

A caller in the 1200 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Friday evening that her mom’s phone had been busy all day. Officers responded. The subject was fine.

A subject was reported beating a pumpkin on a car Sunday evening in the 400 block of Fourth Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. No problem.
