Arrests

Chad Anthony Dawley, 27, of Washington, was arrested Thursday morning in the 300 block of South Second Avenue in Washington for OWI, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thomas Harry Osborn, 40, of Washington, was arrested Thursday morning in the 1300 block of West Madison Street in Washington for violating a no-contact order. Christina Marie Gray, 26, of Keota, was arrested at the same time and location for violating a no-contact order.

 

Charges filed

Steven Wayne Helmick, 13, of Fairfield, was charged Monday with second-degree sexual abuse.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 2600 block of Highway 22 in Kalona. Officers responded.

A caller reported striking a deer Wednesday evening on Highway 218 in Ainsworth. The vehicle was towed.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Wednesday evening in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in West Chester. A deer tag was issued.

An officer reported Wednesday evening being out with a subject who had struck a deer in the 2700 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. The vehicle was leaking gas. Ainsworth Fire and officers responded.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Wednesday evening at Highway 218 and Old White Way in Ainsworth. Officers responded.

A caller reported striking a deer Wednesday night at Dogwood and Highway 92 in Keota. Officers responded.

 

Disabled vehicles

A vehicle was reported parked the wrong way in the 800 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington Wednesday afternoon. Officers responded. The owner showed up and advised he broke down. The vehicle was towed.

 

Fire calls

A car was reported on fire Wednesday evening in the 2000 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Ainsworth Fire and the Iowa State Patrol responded. No fire on arrival.

A fire alarm was reported Thursday morning in the 1000 block of South B Avenue in Washington. Washington Fire Department responded. It was a false alarm.

 

Assault

A caller reported Thursday night that her husband assaulted her in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona. Officers collected statements from all parties. The incident was documented.

 

Physical child abuse

An officer reported Friday morning being en route to the City of Crawfordsville for a physical child abuse assessment.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller reported Wednesday morning possible marijuana use in the 1100 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Weapon violation

A caller in the 200 block of East Main Street in Washington reported Thursday evening hearing what he thought was a firearm discharging. Officers were unable to locate.

 

All other thefts

A wallet was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

A caller reported Tuesday evening that her daughter was at the Laundromat in the 300 block of A Place in Kalona and it was flooding. Officers and the keyholder responded. It was an overflowing toilet.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 1600 block of North Highland Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon that his son’s mother had been sending him harassing text messages. Officers spoke with both parties.

A caller in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Thursday night that a subject attempted to hit his van while his fiancé was inside. Officers responded. The incident was unfounded.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller in the 100 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon his daughter and her boyfriend were fighting at their apartment. Officers responded. The situation was verbal only and the male subject left.

 

Prowlers

A caller in the 300 block of North B Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning hearing someone messing with her door. Officers responded.

 

Trespass

Evelyn Dee Watters, 57, of Washington, was cited Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington for trespassing.

Someone was reported inside a trailer in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona Wednesday evening. Officers were unable to locate anyone.

 

Animal complaints

A cow was reported on a curvy road Wednesday morning in the 5400 block of Highway 1 in Kalona. Officers were unable to locate.

An injured deer was reported in the 2200 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth Wednesday afternoon. Officers were unable to locate.

A barking dog was reported Thursday morning in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 90 block of Washburn Street in Riverside reported Thursday morning that his neighbors had a dog that barks. Officers responded. A verbal warning was given.

A deer tag was requested Thursday morning at Highway 218 and 135th Street in Riverside. Officers responded.

A deer was reported struck Thursday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Officers responded. A deer tag was issued.

A loose dog was reported Thursday morning in the 600 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

DP&Q

A possible domestic situation was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Kalona. Officers responded. The issue was resolved.

 

All other offenses

A caller in the 300 block of North C Avenue in Washington reported Friday morning hearing tapping on her windows. Officers were unable to locate anyone.

 

Suspicious activity

A subject was reported Wednesday evening in the 1600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington carrying a flashlight near the caller’s trailer that was loaded with scaffolding and ladders. Officers were unable to locate.

A subject dressed all in black was reported Thursday morning in the 1600 block of 335th Street in Brighton. Officers responded.

Screaming was reported Thursday morning in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. No problem.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller reported being in a verbal altercation with her son in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton and he left the residence. She requested officers locate her son and return him to the residence. Officers spoke with the caller.

A caller in the 400 block of East Main Street in Brighton requested to speak with an officer Thursday morning in reference to her son, who hadn’t been home since the previous day. Officers were advised.
