Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar reported this morning that on Friday his office served a warrant on Rodney Bean. Dunbar said that Bean had filed for an appeal and that the court system had denied him. He said that the department had tried to contact Bean on Thursday, but had been unable to reach him. On Friday, Dunbar said, Bean had returned the phone call and turned himself in. Dunbar said he had picked Bean up at his residence.
Dunbar also said that there had been discussion about a search warrant on Friday to attempt to gather some phone records in regard to the Bean case.
No other incidents were reported to Dunbar from the weekend, he said. He explained that in f larger cases, such as felony arrests, the deputies inform him of the incident.
In the city, Police Sgt. Shawn Ellingson reported today that there had been arrests for assault or disorderly conduct in two separate instances at the Wagon Wheel. The names of the people arrested will be printed when the police log from the weekend is provided to The Washington Evening Journal.
The police log was not available today due to a new computer system at the Washington County Communications Center. Dunbar reports that, due to miscommunications in the system being activated that the police log was not available today. He believes the logs will be available later this week, possibly as early as Wednesday. The Journal regrets any inconvenience that may occur as a result in the delay of the printing of the logs.
