Arrests

Patrick Devine, 63, of Sigourney, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington for driving under suspension, improper registration and no insurance.

Christina Marie Gray, 26, of Washington, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 600 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington for theft and criminal mischief.

Curtis Austin Null, 27, of Washington, was arrested Friday evening in the 1000 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington for public intoxication.

Holly Christine Farrier, 22, of Washington, was arrested Sunday morning in the 500 block of South Highway 1 in Washington on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of fourth-degree theft.

 

Charges filed

Charges were filed Oct. 19 on Keenan DeShawn Thyen, 15, of Washington for fifth-degree theft.

Charges were filed Friday afternoon on Set Avery Baker, 16, of Washington for criminal mischief.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday morning at Ginkgo and Airport in Wellman. Officers spoke with the caller.

An accident was reported Friday afternoon at West Madison and Highways 1 and 92 in Washington. Officers responded. No citations.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday evening at Highway 218 and Highway 22 in Riverside. The Iowa State Patrol responded.

A caller in the 500 block of South Highway 1 in Washington reported Friday evening that his vehicle was hit sometime earlier that day. The incident was documented.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday night at Highway 218 and 320th Street in Crawfordsville. The incident was documented.

A caller reported Friday night striking a deer in the 3000 block of Highway 1 in Brighton. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Saturday evening at Highway 1 and 140th Street in Kalona. The incident was documented.

A caller reported hitting a deer Sunday morning in the 3200 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers were advised. The incident was documented.

A caller reported Sunday morning that a vehicle had struck his son’s vehicle in the 800 block of East Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded. Over $1,500 damage.

An accident was reported Sunday afternoon at South C Avenue and West Van Buren Street in Washington. Officers responded. Charges were filed on Joanne Marie Paisley of Washington for driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

A caller reported Sunday afternoon that he had heard a crash while he was in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth last Thursday and he didn’t realize it was his vehicle until he got home and noticed paint transfer. The incident was documented.

 

Traffic other

A truck was reported speeding and revving its engine Saturday evening in the 1000 block of Second Street in Wellman. Officers spoke with the owner.

A caller in the 2500 block of 305th Street in Washington reported Saturday night that 4-wheelers were doing donuts. Officers were unable to locate.

 

Fire calls

A hay barn was reported on fire Friday morning in the 1100 block of Henry/Washington Road in Wayland. Wayland Fire and Washington Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.

A vehicle was reported on fire Saturday morning at Highway 218 in Riverside. Riverside Fire and officers responded. The fire was extinguished.

Subjects were reported burning something Saturday afternoon at North Iowa and East Third Street in Washington. Officers responded. The subjects had a smoker going.

Smoke was reportedly coming from the west side of Marion Avenue Baptist Sunday morning in the 200 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The smoke was from a boiler they started up. No problem.

 

Assault

A caller reported Sunday morning that her daughter’s boyfriend had assaulted her daughter in the 1000 block of Second Street in Wellman. Officers and Iowa State Patrol responded. The male was gone prior to officers’ arrival. The female advised there had been a verbal argument only.

A possible assault was reported Sunday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Officers responded. No problem.

 

Shoplifting

A subject was reported attempting to shoplift Sunday morning in the 1100 block of Enterprise Drive in Riverside. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 1400 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that the stick she keeps on her dashboard was missing. Officers responded. The item was located.

A bicycle was reported stolen Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of South Highway 1 in Washington. Officers responded.

A bayonet knife was reported stolen from a vehicle in the City of Washington. The incident was documented.

A theft was reported Sunday night from a residence in the 600 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

Someone reportedly ran over a stop sign Sunday morning at 250th and Juniper Avenue in Washington. Officers and County Roads were notified.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported Friday night that two people were in a vehicle following her friend around town. Officers spoke with all parties. They were advised to have no further contact.

 

Disorderly conduct

An out-of-control 16-year-old was reportedly causing damage to a residence in the 2200 block of 220th Street in Washington Friday afternoon. Officers responded. The juvenile was transported to the high school.

 

Illegal dumping

The illegal dumping of construction materials was reported Sunday morning at Redoak and 285th in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Trespass

Officer reported that they informed a subject in the 400 block of North Highways 1 and 92 in Washington that he was not to return to a property. The incident was documented.

Juveniles were reported playing with bricks Sunday afternoon in the 700 block of East Third Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller reported Sunday evening that she located a vehicle on her property in the 1500 bloc of 315th Street in Brighton. The caller said she heard dogs in the timber and believed people were coon hunting on her land. Officers responded.

 

Tobacco violations

Jacob Mattox, 15, of Wellman, was cited Saturday evening in the 1000 block of Sixth Street in Wellman for possession of tobacco under the legal age.

 

Animal complaint

An 8-year-old was reportedly bitten in the face by a dog in the 700 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman Saturday morning. Officers spoke with the caller. The information was forwarded to Environmental Health and the City of Wellman.

A barking dog was reported Saturday night in the 800 block of First Place in Kalona. A verbal warning was given.

A deputy was requested Saturday night in the 200 block of North Farmer Street in Brighton to assist in removing a bat. Officers responded.

Someone reportedly let calves out Saturday night in the 2400 block of 330th Street in Wayland. The caller reported he was missing 10 calves. A vehicle reportedly struck one calf. The Iowa State Patrol handled the accident report. The incident was documented.

Two dogs were reported running loose Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner. A verbal warning was given.

 

DP&Q

A vehicle was reported parked in the 900 block of West Madison Street in Washington Sunday morning playing loud music. Officers responded. The music was off on arrival.

 

All other offenses

An officer reported Friday morning being out in the 1600 block of 270th Street in Washington to assist with an eviction. A dog was taken to PAWS and More animal shelter. The incident was documented.

A gas leak was reported Friday afternoon in the 100 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Alliant requested assistance contacting a neighboring business to check for a leak. The incident was documented.

An abandoned bike was reported Friday night at Sunset Park in Washington. It was taken to the bike shed.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 1100 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported Friday afternoon her sister, brother, and sister-in-law wouldn’t leave. Officers responded. The subjects left.

 

Runaway/missing persons

A caller in the 30 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported Saturday morning that her daughter stepped outside to use the phone and they couldn’t find her. Officers responded.

 

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported Friday morning in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington.

A caller in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported Friday night that someone “jimmied” the locks on his truck and now they can’t get the keys to work. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

A vehicle was reported spotlighting houses Saturday evening at East 15th and North Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A tenant in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Washington reportedly went to another apartment, kicked the door and then ran back to his apartment, slammed the door and was banging on his own door. Officers responded.

 

Civil dispute

A caller in the 1100 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported Friday night that a family member had recorded a conversation earlier without the caller’s permission. Officers responded.

 

Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Friday night in the 300 block of Highways 1 and 92 in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller reported Sunday afternoon that while doing volunteer campaign work he found a small boy at home alone at a residence in the 2500 block of 255th Street in Washington. Officers responded. Everything was fine.
