Arrests

Eric Edward Bagwell, 38, of Washington, was arrested Thursday night in the 900 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington on a Lee County warrant for contempt of court – driving while barred, refusal to pay fine of costs.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller at Highway 1 in Kalona requested another rig be en route to Pleasantview to take a call, because they had hit a deer. Officers responded. Over $1,500 damage was reported.

 

Traffic other

A stop arm violation was reported Thursday afternoon in the 2000 block of Highway 22 in Kalona. Hanna Aylssa Mansfield, 17, of Kalona, was cited for unlawful passing of a school bus.

A car was reported sticking out into the roadway in the 300 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona Thursday evening. Officers responded and advised the driver to pull the vehicle further into the driveway.

 

Assault

Two subjects in a vehicle were reported parked at Washington Street and Marion Avenue in Washington and it appeared they were hitting each other. Officers responded. The subjects were just messing around. No assault.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 500 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported Thursday afternoon that a subject came into his yard and took his cat. Officers responded. The cat was located and returned to the owner.

A caller reported Thursday afternoon that his 9-year-old son’s backpack was stolen while he was waiting for the school bus in the 200 block of East Third Street in Riverside. Officers were advised. School officials were notified. The incident was documented. The backpack was later located in the mother’s vehicle. No theft.

 

Vandalism

Locks were reported cut to storage units in the 2300 block of Highways 1 and 92 in Washington. Officers responded. It was unknown if anything was missing at this time. The complainant will contact the renters of the units. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 2500 block of Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth reported Thursday afternoon that a subject was harassing him. Officers spoke with both subjects. They were advised to have no further contact.

 

Disorderly conduct

A student was reported out of control Thursday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. The student calmed down.

A caller reported Thursday afternoon that two junior high aged boys jumped out in front of her car in the 1900 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The caller went back to speak to them and they were very rude. Officers responded and counseled the subjects.

 

Illegal dumping

A subject reportedly dumped a large amount of trash onto the concrete in the 1000 block of West Monroe Street in Washington Thursday morning. Officers responded. Dennis Woodrow Hicks, 40, of Crawfordsville, was cited for illegal dumping.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 400 block of Ella Street in Riverside reported Thursday night that her father was yelling at her and waking up her children. Officers responded. Information will be forwarded to the county attorney in reference to charges of violating a no-contact order.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller in the 400 block of B Avenue in Kalona reported Thursday afternoon receiving several boxes, each one with a different name. Officers responded. The companies were contacted and the products were sent back. The incident was documented.
