Arrests

Brenda Lea Fishback, 48, of Washington, was arrested Saturday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington for operating while intoxicated.

Cody Duane Layman, 23, of Ainsworth, was arrested Sunday morning in the 500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington for disorderly conduct. Darian Lee Patterson, 23, of West Chester, was arrested at the same time and location for disorderly conduct.

John Roger Weis, 50, of Kalona, was arrested Sunday morning in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona for indecent exposure.

 

Warrant

Donald Dean Bell, 44, of Kalona, was arrested Friday morning in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington on an Iowa City Police warrant for violating a no-contact order.

 

Traffic accidents

An accident was reported Friday evening in the 3200 block of Dogwood Avenue in Brighton. Officers responded.

An accident was reported Saturday morning at Kiwi and Highway 22 in Kalona. Officers responded. The driver was able to back out of the ditch.

A vehicle accident was reported Saturday morning in the 1000 block of 190th Street in Keota. Officers responded. No injuries were reported.

A vehicle reportedly struck a tree in the 1300 block of Hoot Owl Hollow in Keota Sunday morning. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.

A caller in the 500 block of South C Avenue in Washington reported Sunday afternoon that his truck was running and in park and it came out of gear and hit his neighbor’s vehicle. The incident was documented.

A parked vehicle in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside was reportedly struck Sunday evening. Officers responded.

 

Traffic other

A vehicle was reported parked in a handicapped spot Friday afternoon in the 400 block of East Tyler Street in Washington. Officers responded. Owner had a handicapped placard.

A wheelchair was reported stuck Saturday morning in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Juveniles were reported on a four-wheeler Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Hickory Avenue in Wellman. Officers responded.

 

Fire calls

Kalona Fire Department was requested Friday evening in the 5600 block of Derby Avenue in Kalona to assist with a ditch fire. The fire was extinguished.

A carbon monoxide detector was reported going off Friday evening in the 900 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. Washington Fire Department, officers and Alliant responded.

A fire was reported in the kitchen of a business in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department responded.

 

Assault

A caller in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported Saturday morning that a subject assaulted him. Officers responded. Charges will be filed on Benjamin Curtis for criminal mischief and simple assault.

 

Drug/narcotics violations

A caller in the 300 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported locating a suspicious item Monday evening. Officers responded. Charges are pending per DCI lab results.

 

Motor vehicle thefts

A flatbed truck was reported missing from a residence in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester. Officers responded. The vehicle was later located.

 

All other thefts

A bicycle was reported stolen Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of East Adams Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A gas drive-off in the amount of $36 was reported Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of First Street in Kalona. Officers were unable to locate.

Tanja Joann Lloyd, 19, of Washington, is being charged with credit card forgery in reference to an earlier report on someone using a child support card.

A bike was reported taken from the 100 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington Sunday afternoon. The incident was documented.

A bicycle was reported stolen Monday evening in the 1100 block of East Second Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

Vandalism to a car was reported Sunday morning in the 100 block of Green Meadows Drive in Washington. The incident was documented.

Someone reportedly shot and broke a pane of glass in the 300 block of A Place in Kalona Sunday morning. Officers responded. A subject who reported being shot in the side with a BB gun also approached officers.

Someone reportedly damaged the windshield of a vehicle in the 300 block of East Third Street in Washington Sunday morning. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

Three subjects were reportedly taking plants from the bandstand in Central Park in Washington Sunday evening. Officers responded.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller in the 400 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that her neighbor was putting in a new sidewalk and causing a lot of dust to come onto her property. Officers responded.

A subject was reportedly messing with the caller’s things and yelling at him as he and his wife were trying to move out Monday afternoon in the 2700 block of Coppock Road in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported Monday afternoon his stepson left two harassing voicemails. The incident was documented.

 

Prowlers

A caller in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported Tuesday morning that a subject was trying to get her door open. Officers responded. The subject was advised to leave.

 

Trespass

A self-banned subject was reported Tuesday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Officers responded. Melinda Jo Fisher, 46, of Ely, was cited for trespass.

 

Liquor law violations

A vehicle stop was reported Friday night at East Street and Highway 22 in Riverside. Four subjects were given written warnings for curfew violations.

 

Animal complaints

A bat was reported in a business in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington Friday afternoon. Officers responded.

A bat reportedly bit a subject Saturday morning in the 100 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington. Officers were advised. The mother will be taking the bat to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for testing.

A bat was reported in a residence in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington Sunday morning. Officers were unable to locate.

A barking dog was reported Sunday morning in the 100 block of D Avenue in Kalona. Gary Stanley Wilson, 50, of Kalona, was cited for allowing a dog to bark.

A bat was reported trapped in a residence in the 200 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded.

A loose pit bull was reported Monday morning in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

Two black calves were reported on Highway 218 in Riverside Monday evening. Officers responded.

 

DP&Q

Loud music was reported coming from a residence in the 400 block of East Street in West Chester Friday night. Officers responded.

An officer was requested Saturday afternoon in the 100 block of South B Avenue in Washington in reference to sounds in the caller’s attic. The incident was documented.

Noises were reported in an attic in the 100 block of South B Avenue in Washington Saturday evening. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Saturday night in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported coming from an apartment in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington Sunday morning. Officers responded.

A caller in the 100 block of South B Avenue in Washington reported Sunday night that the neighbors had been in his attic. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Sunday night in the 1200 block of Highway 1 and 92 in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller in the 100 block of Railroad Street in Ainsworth reported Monday morning that the neighbor’s kids had been riding a four-wheeler up and down the alley. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

A caller in the 200 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon the neighbor was screaming at his kids and swinging a bat in the back yard. Officers responded. No problem.

Several subjects were reported drawing on the sidewalk in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Kalona Saturday afternoon and would not move for pedestrians. Officers responded.

In appropriate activity was reported Saturday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona. The incident is under investigation.

 

Family offense non violent

A caller in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington reported Friday afternoon her son was becoming angry and she was unable to calm him down. Officers responded.

Two subjects were reported yelling at each other Sunday afternoon in the 3100 block of Old White Way in Ainsworth Sunday afternoon. Officers responded. Verbal only.

A caller in the 200 block of North Mechanic Street in Brighton reported Sunday afternoon that her 15-year-old son was angry and had damaged some items. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

 

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported Friday morning in the City of Washington. The incident is under investigation.

Two junior high aged boys reportedly rode bikes into the trees in the 100 block of South 15th Avenue in Washington Saturday evening and left the bikes before running off. Officers responded.

A gunshot was reported Sunday night in the 200 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded. It was a firecracker.

A caller reported Monday night seeing a vehicle pull up to a pop machine in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington, get out of his vehicle, and walk across the street. The caller believed the subject was looking in windows. Officers were unable to locate.

A subject reportedly requested assistance Tuesday morning at Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. Officers responded.

 

Welfare check

Two young children were reported Saturday evening on the railroad tracks in the 300 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington with no adults around. Officers responded.

 

Public service contact

A subject requested assistance Sunday evening in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller reported Sunday morning her husband was last seen in the 700 block of West Second Street in Washington. Officers attempted to locate.
