Arrests

Jeremy James Olson, 35, of Ottumwa, was arrested Friday morning in the 900 block of East 11th Street in Washington for driving under suspension x8.

Edgar Jesus Hernandez, 21, of Columbus Junction, was arrested Saturday morning in the 1100 block of Enterprise Drive in Riverside for probation violation on delivery of a controlled substance – marijuana.

Thomas Michael Peat, 67, of Washington, was arrested Saturday evening in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington for OWI and no motorcycle license.

 

Traffic accidents

A vehicle reportedly backed into a parked trailer Friday afternoon at Industrial Park Road in Washington. Information was exchanged.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington. Under $1,500 damage was reported.

A vehicle accident was reported Friday afternoon in the 200 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington. Under $1,500 damage was reported. Arnel Baughman, 55, of Washington, was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday afternoon at Highway 22 and Hickory Avenue in Wellman. Officers, Wellman Quick Responders, Wellman Rescue, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol responded.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday evening in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Information was exchanged.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Friday night in the 2700 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. Officers were advised.

An accident was reported Saturday morning in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Information was exchanged.

A caller reported Saturday evening that her daughter backed into construction equipment in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Wellman. The incident was documented.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Shad Null of Washington was cited for following too closely.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday evening in the 2900 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Sunday night in the 1800 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Officers responded. The subject had hit a calf. Information was exchanged.

 

Traffic other

A truck pulling a boat was reported on Highway 1 in Kalona driving at a high rate of speed and making bad passes. Officers responded. The driver was counseled.

 

Fire calls

A fire alarm was reported Friday evening in the 500 block of North 12th Avenue in Washington. Officers and Washington Fire Department responded. No fire.

A propane smell was reported in a residence in the 2900 block of 230th Street in Ainsworth Friday night. Ainsworth Fire Department responded.

Wellman Fire Department was requested Saturday afternoon in the 1000 block of SW 500th Street in Wellman for a sparking power pole.

A car fire was reported Saturday evening in the 1600 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Kalona Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

A large fire was reported Saturday evening in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington. Officers responded. The fire was out on arrival.

 

Assault

A deputy was requested Friday afternoon in the 1600 block of Highway 1 in Washington while the caller retrieves his daughter from her mother’s house. The caller advised the daughter was in a physical altercation. Officers responded.

An ambulance was requested Friday afternoon in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington for a subject who was assaulted and was complaining of pain. Officers and Washington County Ambulance responded. Charges were filed on Patrick Dylan Osborn, 17, of Washington for assault.

A fight was reported Sunday morning in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton. A subject was reported screaming at another subject and pounding on her car. Two more calls came in and one caller reported the first subject had a knife and had cut someone. Officers responded. Charges are pending.

 

Burglary

A shed in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona was reportedly broken into Saturday afternoon. Officers responded.

Two Gator type vehicles reportedly pulled out of a business in the 1400 block of E Avenue in Kalona and refused to stop. Officers and the Iowa State Patrol responded. The stolen Gators were returned.

 

Stolen property

A caller in the 100 block of West Fountain Street in Washington reported Friday that a bike she reported stolen was at another residence. Officers responded. No bike matching the one reported was found.

 

All other thefts

A caller in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Friday afternoon being in a dispute with a business over a gas purchase. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

Two bikes were reported stolen Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of West Second Street in Washington. The incident was documented.

A stolen billfold was reported Saturday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington. The incident was documented.

 

Vandalism

Vandalism was reported to the bandstand in Central Park in Washington Saturday evening. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

Vandalism was reported to a shed in the 500 block of East Madison Street in Brighton Sunday morning. The incident was documented.

 

Intimidation/harassment

An officer was requested Friday afternoon in the 600 block of West Main Street in Washington regarding harassment related issues. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported Saturday afternoon a subject was harassing him. Officers spoke with the caller.

 

Disorderly conduct

An unruly student was reported Friday morning in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington. Officers responded.

A caller reported Sunday afternoon getting into a verbal altercation with a subject in Central park in Brighton. The caller said the other person had a knife and a crowbar. Officers responded. There were conflicting stories. The subjects were advised to stay away from each other.

A caller in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported Sunday evening that his 22-year-old son was out of control. Officers responded. The son was calm on arrival and left the residence.

A caller reported Sunday night that a subject had thrown a firework between the caller and a bike at City Park in Brighton, which caused the caller’s son to get into a physical altercation with the subject. The subject then assaulted the caller’s older son. Officers spoke with all parties and advised them to stay separated. The fireworks were confiscated.

 

Prowlers

Someone was reported banging on a residence Friday night in the 300 block of Fourth Street in Wellman. Officers checked the area.

 

Trespass

Trespassing was reported on a property in the 200 block of South Benton Street in Brighton Friday afternoon. The incident is under investigation.

 

Animal complaints

A dog was reported on the caller’s back porch in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington Friday afternoon. Officers spoke with the owner.

 

DP&Q

A loud noise was reported Friday evening in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington. Officers responded.

Loud music was reported Sunday morning in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. Officers responded.

 

All other offenses

A deputy was requested Friday morning at Juniper and 140th in Kalona to speak with the caller’s daughter in reference to some issues she had at her residence. Officers spoke with all parties.

A violation of a no-contact order was reported Friday morning in the 2600 block of West Sockum Ridge road in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

A caller in the 800 block of South C Avenue in Washington reported Saturday morning that subjects who stay with him would not let him in his residence. Officers responded.

Two subjects reportedly came to a residence in the 1700 block of Highway 78 in Brighton to get items and were trying to break down the front door. Officers responded. The subjects retrieved the belongings.

 

Family offense non violent

A violation of a no-contact order was reported Friday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The incident was documented.

 

Runaway/missing person

A deputy was requested Friday afternoon to check on a missing juvenile in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona. Officers responded.

A caller in the 600 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Saturday morning that his 18-year-old daughter didn’t come home after work. Officers attempted to locate.

A caller in the 600 block of West Second Street in Washington reported Sunday evening she had not seen her son since the previous night. Officers responded. The subject was located.

 

Suspicious activity

The front doors of a vacant property in the 400 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington were reported open Friday morning.

A subject was reported Friday evening engaged in inappropriate activity Friday evening in the 200 block of North Railroad Street in Ainsworth. Officers responded. Miguel Anjel Hernandez was cited for no driver’s license.

A beeping sound was reported coming from a dumpster in the 300 block of East River Street in Riverside Saturday afternoon.

Subjects were reported knocking on doors and running away Saturday evening in the 400 block of South Third Avenue in Washington. Officers were advised.

A caller in the 1100 block of Enterprise Drive in Riverside reported Sunday afternoon a subject had tried to pay for gas with a $100 bill. When the caller held the bill up to the light, the subject grabbed it back and gave her a $20. The incident was documented.

 

Welfare check

A caller reported Sunday afternoon he was in a physical altercation with his brother in the 1200 block of East Main Street in Washington and was unable to contact his mother. Officers responded.
