A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington. The Washington Police Department responded. Incident happened on private property. Information was exchanged between the two parties. Damage was reported to be under $1500.
An accident was reported at the 3100 block of Highway 92. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded. There were no injuries. The accident occurred between two Kenmore semis.
A caller requested deputies to her residence located at the 500 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman. Caller said her boyfriend came home intoxicated and assaulted her. The caller refused to give any more information and disconnected the call. The Washington County Sheriff’s office responded. Wellman QRS and Washington County Ambulance were staged off site and were advised they could disregard. Keith Edward Penelton, 53, of Wellman, was arrested for serious domestic assault third offense and subsequent. Penelton was transported to the Washington County Jail. He is also wanted on two warrants out of Linn County for failure to complete batterer’s education on an original charge of assault causing bodily injury and domestic abuse. Bond was set at $1,150. Warrants were confirmed and Linn County will extradite subject. A hold was placed with the jail.
A caller reported a burglary at his residence located at the 300 block of Fourth Street in Kalona. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. Frank Arnold Tanke, 21, of Kalona, was arrested and charged with burglary second offense and criminal mischief third offense and fifth-degree theft. Subject was incarcerated at the Washington County Jail.
A caller reported receiving harassing text messages from an ex-friend at the 1100 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman. Caller would like deputy to advise her to cease contact. Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy spoke with both parties and advised no further contact either way. Caller was advised on no-contact orders through the court.
Sexual child abuse
A report of possible sexual child abuse in the City of Washington was made to the Washington Police Department. It is under investigation, and a report will be filed.
The Washington Police Department received a complaint about dogs at large belonging to a residence located in the 300 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington. Officer advised dogs were inside the home upon arrival. Officer spoke with the owner of the dogs and gave him a verbal warning.
Two kids were reported in a minor scuffle in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue. The school district will handle the incident internally. The incident was documented.
A caller reported someone had cut her dog’s leash within the last hour at the 1000 block of East Third Street in Washington. She reported her dog is missing from the yard. Dog was wearing a black collar and a partial leash and was described as a medium size male German shepherd named Duke. The Washington Police Department responded and advised the leash broke. The dog was reported heading northbound. Officers attempted to locate the dog.

A caller asked for an officer to assist at the Washington County Courthouse located at the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington. The Washington Police Department responded and assisted.
A caller reported subjects in a pick up at Quince and 240th Street shooting from their vehicle and possibly chasing deer. Subjects were allegedly driving at a high rate of speed. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded and were unable to locate the vehicle.
