Warrant Arrests
Tyler James Fleagle, 26, of Kalona was arrested in Davenport on a warrant in Washington County for failure to appear on mittimus charges, driving while license denied or revoked, fraudulent use of registration, and no insurance. No bond was given and Fleagle must serve the time. He is waiting for extradition back to Washington County.
Traffic Stop Serious
The Washington Police Department reported stopping a vehicle in the 900 block of South Iowa Avenue Monday afternoon. Dylan Jordan Hoekstra, 17, of North Liberty was cited for driving under suspension first offense.
Traffic Accident
Dispatch received a 911 call that a vehicle has gone into the ditch at the Highway 218 and Highway 22 intersection in Riverside Monday afternoon. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was described as a gray passenger car. Iowa State Patrol responded and could not locate the vehicle.
A caller reported a semi and trailer hit the passenger side of her vehicle Friday. This occurred while her vehicle was stopped for road construction on Highway 218 south of exit 62. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was advised for documentation.
A caller reported she just hit a deer on Highway 218 northbound in the 2300 block by Ainsworth Monday evening. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was advised. Dispatch advised caller to fill out a state accident report if the damage was over $1,500. The incident was documented.
A caller reported some kids ran a vehicle off the road in the 3000 block of Coppock Road in Washington across from their residence. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. The damage was under $1,500 and the owners of the vehicle will make their own tow arrangements to remove the vehicle.
Traffic Other
A caller advised a silver Corvette was circling around the block numerous times and squealing its tires in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington Monday morning. The Washington Police Department responded and checked the area but couldn’t locate the vehicle.
A caller reported a white grand prix with Linn County plates has been sitting in the 2600 block of Birch Avenue south of 250th Street in Washington for two days. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded and placed a 24 hour tow tag on the vehicle.
Animal Complaints
A caller from the 400 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a dog bit her Monday morning while she was on a walk. She spoke with the dog owner who said a small child let out the dog. A dog bite form was filled out with the Washington Police Department. The shots weren’t current on the dog and the dog was being confined at the Town and Country Vet Clinic.
A caller advised there was a brown horse with black mane and tail fenced in the ditch of 110th Street and Palm Avenue in Kalona Monday morning without water or shade. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was advised. The incident was documented.
A caller reported her daughter witnessed an older lady in a maroon vehicle in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington throwing a dog out of her vehicle and driving off Friday morning. The dog was possibly a Maltese. The Washington Police Department responded and checked the area for the dog but was unable to locate it.
A caller reported a Pit Bull running loose in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington Saturday evening. The caller advised the dog had attacked another dog. The Washington Police Department responded but was unable to locate the dog.
A caller reported three large dogs crossed East Washington Street by the Dollar Store in Washington Friday morning. One dog has been hit by a car but was out of the roadway. The Washington Police Department responded. The dogs were located behind the Dollar Store and the owner was on scene. The owner already had the dogs on their leashes and would be taking the one hit by the car to the vet.
Barking Dog
A caller reported a dog has been barking at the neighboring residence for several days in the 500 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington Saturday evening. The Washington Police Department responded. The owner was not at the home of the residence. The dog wasn’t barking upon arrival. A card was left for the owners to call in. The police department spoke with the owner by phone and she was advised of the complaint and if this continues there will be consequences.
Fire Calls
A caller reported a fire/smoke alarm coming from a residence in the 3200 block of Elm Avenue in Brighton Monday afternoon. Brighton Fire Department responded. Everything was OK and there wasn’t any fire.
A caller reported there was smoke coming from the roof of a building located in the 1400 block of East Washington Street in Washington Monday evening. The Washington Fire Department and Washington Police Department responded. A tree had fallen on the building and on an electrical wire, causing smoke but no flames.
A caller reported a large amount of gas has leaked out of her vehicle in the 500 block of South C Avenue in Washington Friday afternoon. The Washington Police Department and Washington Fire Rescue responded and assisted with the call. The incident remains under investigation by the Washington Police Department.
A caller reported seeing smoke coming from inside a residence to the west of Autumn Park Apartments in the 900 block of West Monroe Street in Washington Friday evening. There does not appear to be anyone around. The Washington Police Department and Washington Fire Department responded. The caller called and advised the subjects were grilling and there was no fire. The Washington Fire Department was disregarded.
Welfare Check
A caller from the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue reported his daughter’s ex-boyfriend was sending text messages saying he was cutting himself Monday afternoon. The Washington Police Department responded. Advised no ambulance was needed and spoke with the subject. The subject was with his mom and denied wanting to hurt himself.
A caller reported a subject was sitting in a vehicle outside of her residence in the 300 block of North B Avenue in Washington Monday afternoon. The Washington Police Department responded. The subject was fine. She was waiting for her husband to get out of a meeting.
A caller in the 300 block of East Third Street requested a welfare check on a 1- year-old baby Monday evening. Mother of the child was the complainant and appeared to be intoxicated. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. The baby was sleeping and appeared to be fine. The mother was not home. The father and the grandfather were at the residence.
A caller requested a welfare check on his 8-year-old daughter in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington Friday evening. The caller had just dropped his daughter off at their mother’s residence and there was a verbal dispute. The Washington Police Department responded and everything was fine.
A caller requested a welfare check on her husband in the 2300 block of Kalona Saturday morning. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded and spoke to the son. The son advised his dad was fine.
All Other Offenses
A caller from the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported her neighbor had made racist comments against her and her husband Monday afternoon. The caller believes the neighbor has been throwing garbage in her backyard. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department made contact with the subject and advised him to have no further contact with the caller. The incident was documented.
A caller in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported finding two bikes in Sunset Park in the grass by the rocket slide. The Washington Police Department responded and took both bikes to the bike shed.
A caller requested to speak with an officer regarding the possibility of a violation of a no contact order in the 1400 block of East Washington Street in Washington Saturday morning. The Washington Police Department responded. The protected party’s father was just at the caller’s workplace and was yelling profanities at him. The Washington Police Department spoke with the subject and no violation occurred.
Vandalism
A caller reported writing all over the car located in the 600 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington Friday morning. The Washington Police Department responded. It was washable window paint and should come off with soap and water. The incident was documented.
A caller reported their car was vandalized again in the 200 block of East 13th Street in Washington Friday morning. The caller believed it was the same people as last time. The Washington Police Department responded and advised it was washable paint. The incident was documented.
Hang Up 911 Calls
A female called stating she wanted someone at her house now and hung up without giving an address or name Friday evening in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington. The Washington Police Department responded and located the subject. The female subject was putting her husband’s things outside for him to take and leave the area. She was advised next time to give the information before hanging up.
All Other Thefts
A caller reported a light blue Chrysler mini van left Casey’s eastbound on Madison Street in Washington Monday afternoon without paying $16.03 in gas. There was a male driver with a female passenger in the vehicle. The Washington Police Department located the vehicle. The driver advised he would return and pay for the gas.
Liquor Law Violations
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department received an anonymous call about an underage drinking party at Highway 22 and Juniper Avenue in Kalona Monday evening. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. Michael Tavon Bagley, 18, of Richmond, was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age second offense. Dylan Loren White, 16, of Kalona, was also cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age.
A caller reported being out in a vehicle with open containers of alcohol in it in the 1400 block of Spring Street in Wellman Saturday evening. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. The alcohol was disposed of and the subjects were warned about their behavior.
A vehicle was pulled over by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department in the 1900 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth Sunday morning. Joeseph Lawrence Ramsey, 28, of Riverside was cited for having an open container as a passenger.
Disorderly Conduct
A report of a fight on the square in the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue came in to dispatch Monday evening. The Washington Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. Sergio Perez Gomez, 27, of Washington was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Felipe Lorenzo, 41, of Washington was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Adisar De Jesus Perez-Rivas, 25, of Washington, was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Weather Related
A caller from the 1400 block of Iowa River Road in Riverside called and advised a tree had fallen across the roadway between 140th and 150th Street on the Iowa River Road. She was unable to move it. The Washington County Roads Department was advised.
Public Service/Contacts
A caller reported her generator had been running since 5 p.m. in the 2000 block of 155th Street in Wellman Monday evening. The caller said her lights had also begun to dim. Family Offence/Non-Violent
A caller reported her boyfriend was calling her daughter names in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Brighton Sunday evening. The Washington Sheriff’s Department responded. The caller had left with her child prior to officers’ arrival. The situation was a verbal dispute only. The caller then called back and requested a deputy due to the other subject locking her out of her residence. A deputy responded and separated the subjects for the evening.
A caller requested to speak with a deputy in reference to a situation with her stepdaughter in the 2700 block of West Trio Court in Washington Monday morning. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. Options were given to the parents.
A caller reported being out with a 4-year-old male who was unattended in the 200 block of East Washington Street Sunday evening. The Washington Police Department was advised. The caller called back a few minutes later and said they had located the mother. The incident was documented.
DP&Q
A caller reported fireworks going off in the 100 block of Second Street in Wellman Friday evening near a white mobile home. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded and spoke with a subject, who said he shot off a few bottle rockets and the supply is now gone.
A caller reported loud music coming from the property across from his residence in the alley of 500 block of North C Avenue in Washington Friday evening. The Washington Police Department responded and was unable to locate any loud music.
A caller reported a neighbor set off a loud explosive in the 1100 block of East Main Street in Washington Saturday evening. This also happened a few weeks ago. The Washington Police Department responded to the area and was unable to locate.
A caller reported a loud bass noise coming from a residence near her in the 300 block of Fifth Street in Wellman Sunday afternoon. The caller requested a deputy to respond. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded and was unable to locate the loud music.
A caller reported the neighbor’s to the west have several trucks in the back yard with loud music playing in the 300 block of Fourth Street in Wellman Sunday evening. The caller has asked them to turn it down and they would not. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded. The music was not loud upon arrival. They were advised of the complaint.
