Presentation on care act to be held
The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) will have two informational meetings on Feb. 25, about the Affordable Care Act.
Michelle Canfield, a certified applications counselor and outreach educational counselor for Hawk-I through HACAP, will be hosting the presentations.
“The presentation itself will take about 10 to 15 minutes,” Canfield said. “It’s the questions after that may take a little longer.”
The first meeting will begin at noon at the Washington Free Public Library. The second one will begin at 5:30 p.m.
“It is important for people to know as the health care industry changes what their options are, where they may find that information, and what they can do to enroll,” Canfield said. “There are several options out there people don’t know about and if it’s affordable to them.”
The informational meetings are free and open to the public, she said.
“Even if you don’t need coverage, you can still attend,” Canfield said. “It is always good to stay on top of what’s out there and what’s available to you in case you need to enroll.”
No enrollments will be done at the meetings, but a list of resources for the Washington County area will be handed out at the meeting, Canfield said. If people have questions they may contact her at the HACAP corporate office at 319-393-7811.
