Readers and Writers
Six members of the Readers and Writers department of Fortnightly Club met at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Washington Public Library.
Fortnightly president Ellen Krueger distributed copies of a letter she had composed, pointing out the positive impact of fortnightly club in the history of Washington and suggesting some new departments that could be added to the general Fortnightly organization. She would like to have Fortnightly remembered during Washington’s 175th celebration.
Chairman Patty Roe conducted the business meeting. She had tickets available for the May breakfast, scheduled for 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 6. The group decided to try meeting on a different day — the second Tuesday of the month instead of the second Thursday — because of a conflict with some of the members’ schedules.
Four R & W members shared their original stories or read from published works, on the topic “I Can Laugh About It Now.”
The next meeting will be at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, at the Washington Public Library. The suggested topic is “A Storm Story.” Interested people are welcome to attend.
