Readers & Writers
Seven members of Readers and Writers department of Fortnightly Club met Sept. 12, 2013, at the Washington Public Library. Department chair Patty Roe conducted a short business meeting. Dues were paid, and tickets were available for the Fortnightly annual fall dinner scheduled for Nov. 11 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington.
Christal Arthur, Joanne Breen and Sally Reighard reported on the writers workshop they had attended. They had enjoyed the sessions and had participated in challenging and intriguing writing assignments. The group discussed the possibility of sponsoring another such workshop with the same instructor, and possible ways to finance it. It could be offered to anyone interested.
Members then shared their writings on the subject “Letter to a 16-Year-old” or “Letter to My 16-Year-old Self.”
Five members of Readers and Writers met at the library on Oct. 10. The group was reminded of the annual dinner on Nov. 11. Those present shared what they had written on the topic “Favorite Memories of Parent(s).”
The next meeting will be on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the basement of the Washington Public Library. Guests and potential members are welcome.
